Thank you Madcat,but this person has already shown themselves to be clueless with the comment about a short bench ,you had, two players missing through injury we had one. We also had two on GB duty, not sure if you had but if this person is going to try and score points they need to be a bit more intelligent with it.

And lets not forget the fact we are still in a cup competition so thats one piece of silverwear more than you that we can win, anyway thanks for your post it just shows we dont all have to think the same

Very disappointing result in view of our recent strong home performances and the Blaze short bench.
I must express my own disgust at the performance of the officials, Voth was on the ice injured for a considerable time after the assault giving the referee plenty of time to hand out the penalties to Campbell who should have already sitting in the dressing room before Voth recovered. Due to the refs incompetance we the fans are the ones who suffer yet again with our talisman banned before a cup semi final. The league need to realise quickly that these refs are killing our great sport. We pay our money to watch the star players play on the ice and not sit in the stands sitting out bans.
I know Brad is no angel but he receives no protection from the officials who constantly call penalties against him but turn a blind eye when others commit the same fouls. The league need to realise we need Voth and others like him on the ice because these are the guys who put bums on seats.

Voth apparently checked from behind into Hirsch!! Hi guys, im the new kid on the block enjoying my first season as a devils fan. I have only been to two games thus far, the 2:2 draw with blaze (exhibition) and the 2:1 win over the giants. Next game for me is Jan 17th Vs the Panthers. I cant bloody wait !! :twisted:

Couldn't agree more about Voth not getting protection from refs. Its very very obvious and as previously mentioned I've only seen the two games!! Seems a shame we keep having to blame the officials but its all pretty much justified !

I was stood on the ground floor next to blaze bench and i can honestly say that the abuse dished out at campbell, was just cause considering his conduct on the ice whilst voth was incapacitated.
Also i think people are being a bit hard on the boys after voth went down cos Scotty Romfo was going nuts punching and shoving at anyone in his way as well as the other lads who were all jarring at opposing players, the officials did not impose their authority enough, which was poor because as mentioned in previous posts Voth could have been seriously injured and if it were the case their would have been a lot of heads rolling over the poor conduct in general from blaze players and officials...... Id also pass comment on what the officials do when the shoe is on the other foot, I think this attitude has developed through fear and poor judgement... IMO I think Voth has long established himself as an invincible and intimidating prescence and so when he is dishing it out its like the refs expect it from him and throw the book at him, but in the rare occasions when Voth is in danger they dont protect him becuase he is kind of too tought to be protected (not saying this is right just stating what i think) so overall i concur with the general feeling of everyone, the refs in this league are useless, this is a physical game played with raw emotion and when the shit hits the fan refs should be there to take on anything, and they just dont fit the bill they should treat each player with equal contempt in respect of penalty awarding and they should express an equal duty of care on every player that competes tough guy or not cos they are all human all feel pain and all bleed.... Just wanna say that Campbell is a poor sportsman, a decent player but not a professional, when he was escorted off the ice a fan called him a pussy and he went for the fan........ Campbell you do not bite the hand which feeds you and if you went for me i would have slapped you in your ugly head, the reason i say this is because the fans are the customers and whatever they say they are not athletes and they are not targets to scrimmage with, so if i was campbell i would be reviewing my conduct with fans in the future.... anyway enough about that fairplay to Voth his nose was in bits (probably broke) and there was blood pouring but he got up and took campbell on if the fight occured without voth getting sucker punched after taking a big knock he would have destroyed him, heart of a warrior!! good effort Vother!!!

Ok, some perspective. The best team lost last night but poor defence on 3 of our goals is what cost us, not just the officiating. However, that has indeed got to go down as one of the most diabolical performances from a referee I have seen in quite some time.

We let in 2 pony goals in 5 shots during the 2nd period and the winning goal after killing along 5 on 3 penalty was comical. Our defence collides and Chambers walks in for an easy and good finish. We out shot and worked harder than the Blaze last night and justice was not done in picking up zero from the game but you have to play a good defence game in this league to challenge for the title and that was the difference. We’re missing Jarvis and we played against a hot goalie last night.

The Campbell incident was very bad. Campbell and Voth were chirping for a while but fight a guy face to face. Don’t drill him from behind and have you and your mates lay into him while he is face down on the ice. I would like to think the Devils will ask the league to look at that but I cannot see anything coming from it.

I hear what some are saying about Voth perhaps keeping his cool and not scrapping but he was pretty angry and who can blame him following the yellow act of Campbell. Good on Voth for giving him some heavy slaps. I think the match penalties were because the fight was so long after the whistle. I’m not sure what the rule book says on this but I remember Voth getting match for a fight in Basingstoke a few seasons ago for a late fight after the whistle. Maybe can someone can clarify.

Totally agree with all the coments regarding the voth/campbell incident. The ref's certainly need to be alot more consistent with their calls, throughout the game. Sitting in block 14 it was quite hard to see the incident itself.
I was however near enough to hear the Coventry fans cheering and chanting "Derek Campbell" whilst Brad was still down and out on the ice. Whilst i realise other fans love to hate brad, their behaviour and attitude whilst he was down on the ice was absolutely disgusting. They should all be ashamed of themselves, he could have been seriously hurt.
I just hope that they show a little more respect when they visit on the 26th.

I really don't want to stick up for blazeatrail after that awful post, and I can see why we're laughing at him / her after they got beat by Steelers but surely that result reflects badly on us for losing at home to a team who then lost to a poor Steelers team. Plus, I'll reserve my laughing at Blaze until we're above them and on the same amount of games as they will probably win a couple of those games in hand meaning they could be 10+ points above us
