Good on Voth for making that coward fight him like a man! Voth never should of got game for fighting though...
Lets face it, had this been the other way around Voth would be gone for 10 matches at least. I hope Cambell gets what he deserves, and Hirsch should be banned for a few matches too for his involvement too. Probably not going to happen....
Why? The league clearly has it in for Cardiff (or maybe the refs really are THAT bad). I mean the calls towards the end were soft, it's as if they wanted a Coventry win. I mean they tried damn hard to get Sheffield (another 'arena team') a win when they were here towards the end.
Voth will most likely miss Wednesday now, but who can really hold it against him? I think anyone in his position would want to batter that coward. And the refs/linesman were pathetic in their attempts to stop this -- I remember saying somebody would get injured as a result of their incompetance, well I hope Brad is OK.
Anyways, the result is obviously disapointing... I think we're going to need to go on an amazing streak to get back into league contention now. After Hirsch's ermmm mistake early on, he was very solid.

Even in games we've won this season, the refs have been pathetic. They are actually killing the sport in the UK (the league seems as if it's running on borrowed time with attendances falling for most clubs).
I've emailed the EIHL many times and never get a reply, so I don't hold out much hope for getting a reply to a letter. Worth a shot anyway.
Have now watched the replay and the punch ratio was.

The likelyhood of any suspension for Cambell or any of the other Coventry cowards is very remote under the current circumstances. IF (and it's a big if) Sheffields current shower of s#*¥ were real title contenders this year, Elite Head Admin (AKA Bob) would have made sure Coventry were severly disadvantaged for at least 6 games, but as it is things won't change. Elite towers will be sat there having a chuckle at the Devils expense.
e)- If a player, after he has been ordered by the Referee to stop, continues the altercation, attempts to continue, or resists a Linesman in the discharge of his duties, he shall be assessed, at the discretion of the Referee, a:
- Double Minor penalty (2’+2’)
or
- Major penalty + Automatic Game Misconduct penalty (5’+GM)
or
- Match penalty (MP)

A few things concern me about this ugly incident:
1) Voth was down on the ice after a check from behind sent him crashing into the net,this then prompted campbell to continuously throw punches to the defenseless voth and he received several punches from Hirsch (with his blocker) in plain view of everyone. Voth was motionless was what seemed like an eternity whilst this was going on,but absolutely NONE of brads team-mates came in to help brad out. A few made the attempt but were easily persuaded otherwise by the surrounding blaze players. This really bothers me,with previous devils teams you could've pretty much guaranteed that the cavalry would arrive. The way i see it is,if a devil is down and taking a 2 on 1 beating, the the other devils MUST even the score. They are all wearing the devils logo for a reason, because they are a TEAM. This team spirit that has stood out a mile this season,suddenly dissapeared. Not good.
2) When voth was fighting campbell (the actual fight,not the 2 on 1 ambush), the blaze coach was clearly heard to shout to a blaze player who was taking verbal insults from 2 lads who couldn't have been any more than 14yrs old, " if those f*****g kids start, then f*****g lamp them"! Now this is totally unacceptable for a professional person to instruct a player to cause physical assault on what i consider to be minors! Thankfully the player thought better of it. This was in front of many witnesses and is something that needs to be dealt with. Totally unacceptable!

I thought exactly the same, For a bloke the size of Phill Hill to be held back so easily by that extremely large and terrifying Russ Cowley is appalling, He should have been able to swat Cowley out of his way and get in and help. Its no good being big and strong if you are not prepared to use it to help out a teammate

They were shouting insults,no foul language or anything like that. I think the coach reacted as he did due to the fact his player had just lost another fight. The kids were not overly abusive, nor are they paid to perform as the great britain coach. Thompson has a code of conduct to stick to due to this role,last night he threw it out the window. A complete waste of space!
