A wasted opportunity. I think we’ll look back on this as the game if not the weekend as the best chance of silverware that got away from us.
Sucked the game and fight out of us, not helped by the poor officials that didn’t suit our style. That being said we didn’t react and mix things up.

Probably sums up everything about us at the moment.

What a bloody shocking power play that was, we should have pulled the goalie so much sooner, just shows what we have in a rookie number 1 and 2. We should have never brought in a rookie 2.

I’m going to avoid going in to detail, because I’ll be overly negative.

But both Friday and today it looked like a preseason game at times.

It’s funny how the goalie against is always having a great game (it might be because it’s us, not them, making it look like that).

Our defence and our powerplay are why we didn’t win this tournament. And it’s likely why we won’t win the league.

That 5 minute major took a minute to get set up in the zone against a D that weren’t even pressing that hard. I think we had two sort of chances in the whole 5 minutes. You don’t have to be a pro to realise that is just not good enough to win games.

Oh well. I’ll be there against Belfast. Hopefully the team who beat Sheffield will turn up, and not this team.

We’d have been better off without that 5 minute PP at the end, absolute pish. No complaints, we got what we deserved this weekend. Nothing. I thought the Reid, Crandall, Penny line in particular were bloody awful today.

How many Grade A chances did we miss? Today and across the weekend.

All season (irrespective of any upturns in form) we have always been a team that could easily lose to awful teams because we simply don't turn up. It's the opposite of being able to grind out wins - which is the sign of a side that wins trophies. Add being wasteful in front of net today and you won't win anything.

Can't turn up for one game out of three and expect to win anything.

What's even more frustrating is that when this team does show up they are great.

I feel sorry for the away fans, they turned up , we played the equivalent of fife, Dundee and Glasgow and only won 1 game, no doubt we will have more pictures of the players eating bagels and we go again nonsense, we know we go again , it’s called a fixture list

Got to question why it is that the coach has actually acknowledged weaknesses in team tactics early on in the season, including a substandard powerplay....but no improvement in months. Results in tight games are decided by clinical execution/tactical variety in these situations...is it poor tactics, lack of preparation or poor execution by the players?

Flame me for talking about the past, but Lord would have addressed such a glaring weakness very early on in the season. Heck, he used to run 'boot camp' training sessions just for that alone! Devils used to have such a slick powerplay system......

With Jardine potentially out for some time, a major opportunity has been missed to bring in a mature, experienced, calm blue liner in the Strachan, Morrisson, Mikkelson mode. Our defence, I'm afraid, looks leaderless.

Our two main issues this year, defence and powerplay. Desperately need a Strachan like calm head at the back. Really thought we could do it and then had the powerplay, my heart sank!
When we brought in two new players, it’s a real pity that we didn't bring in a big, steady D man. Someone of the calibre of Strachan would have been hard to find but that was what we needed most, particularly given the ongoing absence of Jardine. Instead we sign a college kid who’s barely had a shift and a PP specialist, who we don’t utilise anywhere near enough in front of the net on the PP, while we search for the perfect Reid one timer. Bizarre.

I don’t. It was probably standing ovations all round as they left the ice. The level of hero worship that we show some of these players is cringe.

Bah! What a wasted opportunity for a trophy!
I thought the PP would improve with Fournier coming in, but they still just pass it back and forth the whole time.

I hope Tods ego does not get in the way of him here and he takes a good look in the mirror, I can understand why Dupont was taken on, it was like Lordo again but to allow Rookie 2 is beyond me, it really is. Not like he had an amazing hockey CV.

Our PP is shocking and has not improved at all, we had NO plan b, on paper we have an bloody good team and could of won this!

Why we didn't bring the goalie in on the PP i really do not know, again shows lack of balls or experience. Some of our ``better`` players had a bad weekend too. We allowed teams to play there style and not ours. So gutted and annoyed because we had the golden chance at the end and blew it big time! No way will we be able to keep cox and Stanford next season if we carry on like this
