Is the 6th man close to being on two weeks notice?

Ashipp - Great stuff, I think the Miller one must happen this weekend (especially if he scores)

Stub - Great idea with the song book. I believe the Barmy Army does this (or something similar).

Mods - shall we have a thread for song suggestions?

Here's some easy ones for all Devils fans to learn....

1. Hey Baby Song tune

Heeeeyyyy Hey Baby (oooh, aah) (or replace Baby with Devils)
I wanna knoooow if you're gonna score

Heeeeyyy Hey Baby (oooh, aah)
I wanna knoooow if you're gooona score

2. Conga Song tune

We all love the Dev-ils
We all love the Dev-ils
Na Na Na Na
Na Na Na Na

3. Delilah (Tom Jones) tune

This one's for Matt Miller!

Goal, goal , goal, Matt Miller
Goal, goal , goal, Matt Miller
And, when he scores
The goalie can't take anymore
Matt Miller's the man
To give us the points on the board

Drumming team - how you come up with suitable beats for those songs I don't know! But these are easy chants for the whole crowd to sing. Can the announcer help us along by giving us a prompt?

P.S.

Could also replace 'Heeeeyyy Baby' with 'Heeeeyyy Maxi'!!

Could replace 'We all love the Dev-ils' with 'We all love the Voth-er' - great chant for first match Brad is back on the ice!

I stand down by the DJ stand and can't hear anything from Block 2 and would like to join in, I agree we need start prompts too....and esp at Saturday games as I have a few cheeky sherberts before and during the game so am always a lot more animated shall we say ;)

the first 2 should be simple, with hey baby, replace the ohh ahh with 2 beats of the drum.

umm with the second 1 same again replace the "na na na na" with beats on the drums and between the 2 sets every one shout hey.

with the last 1 there not much you can do with the drums but we could try something like;

Goal, goal , goal, Matt Miller ( duh duh duh dut dut )
Goal, goal , goal, Matt Miller ( duh duh duh dut dut)
And, when he scores
The goalie can't take anymore ( duh duh duh duh )
Matt Miller's the man
To give us the points on the board

what ya think ??

Drumming - don't get me started.

How about actually accompanying the Matt Miller one.

The tune is in 3/4, so you can beat out a rhythm that carries the chant? A triplet feel.

"Duh du du, duh du du"

If you want to grab me (or vice versa) after the game on Saturday, I can play you what I mean.

umm im not sure about that as the drumms may drown out the voices but we could try it, yeah your more than welcome to come up and we try something, me or sean (or both) will be there during warm up.

Unfortunately, I will be lucky to make it before face off this week.

If volume is an issue, my I propose not hitting the drum so hard for that chant? :p I know, I know - it goes against everything us drummers hold dear

Drummer-Ricky, those drumming suggestions sound great. You guys are the specialists - I always admire your enthusiasm at the back, to get the Blue Tent rocking on game night.

I have the same concerns as the Stub, though. Is there a guarantee that as many people as possible will join in the singing, stamping, clapping etc?
Like the guys in Block 2, I try to be vocal in Block 4 but not everyone is so into creating a noise (perhaps I'm out of tune?!)

The Stub suggested a sort of 'hymn sheet' or at least ask the announcer to give us a prompt somehow. Any ideas, ANYONE?

p.s. Another very quick one-liner to sing after every goal we score....

To the tune of Kings of Leon 'Sex on Fire'

'Yeeeeaaaah, Smith is on fire!
Yeeeeeaaah, Smith is on fire!' (replace Smith with Jay, Wes or whoever is scorer) :D

Should we start recording all the traditional chants as well. Or even the new in use ones.

Like The Jay USA one... just so we have a record if we produce this sheet.

I agree with you there ASHIPP about the lack of people joining in. Perhaps we'll need to put The Stub down in block 2 or 3 ;)

I can understand that some people just like to sit back and enjoy the game as I myself did one game against hull last year.

Guys sitting there and enjoying is NOTHING compared to shouting and being a part of the team.

Take for example the Challenge Cup year.

For the last 15 minutes of that game EVERY person was standing up and clapping. Just the clapping helps. As it encourages others to try and beat you by shouting.

Come Up and Have a Chat with us Guys

It's always much appreciated

Cheers

I couldn't speak for days after that game :D

Also remember the warm up the club did for the crowd? Singing all the cliche welsh numbers. Welcome in the Hillside, Green Green Grass of Home. etc etc.

Hard to replicate every week, but if people come and expect to be hitting it hard then we can get close most home games.

Better that than the church like atmosphere they usually have in Hull or Sheffield

*edit for stupidity*

Thought of a suggestion.
To the chorus part of 'Can't take my eyes off you' (The bit that goes I love you baby.....)

We love you Brad Voth because you've got long hair
We love you Brad Voth because you're everywhere
We love you Brad Voth
Score (can be changed to fight!!!) again and we'll sing

:D :D :D

Your alone there mate ;)

To be honest I thought that the Hull game at home had a great atmosphere. I was one of the flag carriers at the beginning and stepping onto the ice with that buzz around you was fantastic.

How about:

He's Bradley, Bradley Voth!
Who? Bradley Voth, yeah Bradley Voth!

I have a tune, but now I can't actually think of the song without the Voth words

Devils101 - I love it! This is a song NO-ONE can resist singing, even if out of tune :D

How about for the verse......

Brad, you're too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You're just the best on the ice
You always win the big fight
You're just to good to be true
They better watch out for you..........
