"Two penalties from the match between Coventry Blaze and Nottingham Panthers on Saturday 4th December 2010 have been downgraded.

Following a review of the game tape by the referee, Nottingham Panthers defenceman Guy Lepine’s match penalty has rescinded, but his five-minute fighting major will still stand.

Coventry Blaze netminder Brett Jaeger’s match penalty has been reduced to two minutes for crossing the centre line (under rule 591) and a game misconduct for roughing – an altercation with a player off-ice (rule 528).

Both Lepine and Jaeger are now available to play in Sunday's Elite League matches.

All other penalties handed out on the night remain unaltered, but the Elite League disciplinary committee will review the game tape with regard to supplementary discipline."

Not to mention that both Kowalski and Jaeger picked up injuries, as did Meyers who has a dislocated shoulder. So with injuries, game bans and potential additional penalties, both teams likely to be short-benched and compromised. Stupid behaviour and they have paid the price at a crucial time.

Meyers got injured last night against Hull not in Cov, but yes it may well cost them both. Kowalski may be out for 2 months

James - It's lumped in an article with Kowalski's injury on the Panthers' website so I presumed it was the same game! oops!

Apparently he dislocated it at the start of a fight .. first swing ..oof
And against Hull at the NIC, team captain Danny Meyers – one of the league's top two British defencemen – dislocated a shoulder after fighting in a bid to light a fire under his team-mates.

His 'scrap' with Jozef Sladok proved basically a damage limitation exercise after his shoulder popped with his first swing.

But Meyers could be out for a month, if it is a repeat of the injury he suffered – also against Hull – two seasons ago.

Meyers is not noted for his fighting prowess, is he? Bearing in mind the seriousness of his last injury, and a subsequent weakness in that area....then it was a stupid thing to do, especially when Uncle Corey could have instructed certain ' more qualified' players to start something going.

p.s. love the 'one of the league's top 2 British defence men' bit - not if he spends most of his time in the recovery room!

Simmsey for an oscar, anybody?

Check out the comments on Yahoo/Sport/Nhl pages about the coverage of the bench clearance - American hockey fans love him! :D Sounds like he needs to get an agent!

Sorry, can't bring up the link on here.
