Mason is a great player, has been hampered with injuries over the past few years so I hope he’s now fit and healthy again.
Hope so. Feeling old tonight, I remember Brian Biddulph well as an agricultural, but wholehearted defenceman. There aren't too many players who have over 1000PIMs in their career but he is one of them.

I like the look of Dundee on paper. A better coach in charge this season and Carr should be solid in goal. Harms, Rinaldi, Valentini, Parrottino, Johnson all look like they will score a decent amount of points and then they've got some grit with Walker and Phelan. Defence looks a bit ordinary at the moment but they've got a couple more to add. Don't get me wrong it will be another tough season for them because they won't have enough depth but i certainly don't see them finishing 10th. I think they'll finish above Fife and Manchester and they'll cause a few surprises along the way.

From a selfish point of view I hope we don't see a rejuvenated Josh Brittain this season. That would be frustrating from a Devils perspective.

Missed a few recently, either that or it's been a particularly busy 24/36 hours...

Let's start in Scotland...

STARS | Yank forward Spencer Naas decides on Dundee after last year in the ECHL
https://www.dundeestars.com/stars-add-versatile-forward-naas-to-offensive-ranks/

CLAN | Glasgow pickup a Springfield NM on a two-way as Euan Simpson returns in purple
https://clanihc.com/signing-simpson-returns-on-two-way-deal/

Then south of the border we drop in at the Rain Shelter...

STORM | Manchester confirm that Scott Simmonds is skating home for retirement at 29
https://www.manchesterstorm.com/scott-simmonds-to-retire-from-professional-hockey/

PANTHERS | 'Quiet'ly announce the signing of Euro-traveler blue-liner Victor Bjorkung
https://www.panthers.co.uk/home/dman-bjorkung-pens-deal-with-panthers

FLAMES | Double trouble as Yuill and Ripplinger confirmed as returning for their third season at the swimming baths
https://guildfordflames.com/ripplinger_and_yuill_back_for_3rd_terms

And lastly, Coventry announce their final signing...

BLAZE | Another Springfield resident as Mr Burns(ide) joins in Coventry
https://www.coventryblaze.co.uk/2023/08/10/stewart-completes-blaze-roster-with-burnside/

That's means that Tanner Lishchynsky; Garrett Johnston; Jack Billings; Peyton Frantti; and Colton Yellow-Horn will not be retained.

Yellow-Horn has been rumoured to be one of the two final Steeler forwards (although I could be making that up!) to be announced as he continues his EIHL tour - having been at Clan the season before.

According to the Sheffield Star, we tried to sign Sheffields Scott Allen, Russell was Allen’s coach for awhile in Germany and wanted him, but Allen is settled in Sheffield.

I read that. He said he was tempted but that the knowledge of what to expect at Sheffield and the friends he and his family had made meant it was a safer bet (he didn't use those words though!). He did say that the city and that side of things was weighed in Sheffield's favour but he pretty much has to say that.

He's a player I'd much rather have on our roster than playing against us, but if we did pick him up this off season then that would have been instead of Ully or Arniel - both of which I'm looking forward to seeing, so not a huge loss IMO.

Unless he would have come to be a third line Centre lol
