So what happened to the team that played Steelers, or was that just a guest appearance. As has been said all season we are truly consistent at being inconsistent. Apart from the fact the result meant very little, it’s about finding that winning habit, one aspect we were truly lousy at tonight was our passing that was truly dire. We let Panthers play their game stupidly, if we had let Steelers play theirs they would have won. We have a team capable of winning the play offs, but we also have a team capable of not even getting there, sorry guys but that was garbage tonight, conceeding 6 goals at home against a depleted team that travelled and also played last night was a bloody disgrace.

Never ever underestimate a team that is so shortbenched it can only bring 16 skaters.
The Panthers, our bogey team, somehow found the energy and the opportunities to make our Guys work hard for that result. They pushed them all the way.

At 3-0 up, Devils were cruising in p1. Very quickly things can change if a team starts to relax and they did. 2 very sloppy plays gifted goals to the Panthers....one from a very casual pass between Devils' players, the other from a complete non-challenge on a Panthers' player, allowing him to coast into the goal area.

As for Chad, he hurt an opposition player. At the time that was obvious. Can't understand why people were cheering and clapping for him during the ensuing altercation with a Panthers' player who objected to his teammate being boarded. Unfortunately, you hurt a player (on a team already ravaged with injuries) you get punished. It also cost our team a player as he was thrown out. And will probably get another ban.

Guess our Guys are preparing to get up for the 2 big games next week against the Giants?

I never thought I’d call a 7-6 SO game dull but it was. Such low quality. Low quality passing, low quality zone exits, low quality all over the ice, low energy and a poor spectacle. If ever a game didn’t need OT it was this one.

On the plus side… ground out a win and won a shoot out. All good habits for the last few games and playoffs.

If that’s preparing for the Giants game, then heaven help us.

What a shambles of a performance against a panthers side who had Neil, Caruso, nelson and ryzek out injured then to have mcgurty go of injured by the chad hit,so panthers were down to one import d man in depres and tetlow and hazeldine two British d man with kelsall who a forward helping out the backend .We were lucky we got it done because we didn't deserve any points after that performance. One of reason why we ain't league champions way to many passengers And wilde and doneghy tonight were abysmal.Just shocked how we can put in a performance like to tonight after Wednesday epic performance.

Maybe because tonight was a dead rubber and Wednesday wasn't? Surely you don't expect an 'epic' performance every week? Sheffield cold have won the league on Wednesday and they couldn't even put a good performance in. Even the best teams can't do it every night.
We won a dead rubber against a tricky Panthers side that's desperate for points. A successful night.

It shouldn't matter who we are playing but to basically play against short staffed panthers team who played night before we had 6 home games in a row with zero travel just a poor performance you will certainly not win any championships by just coasting every game

Well we're not coasting every game. You just called the last performance as 'epic'.

Wednesday game was old school devils hockey and that the standard it's got to be when going for the league title.Obviously your not going to be at your best every game but it's consistency we didn't have that this year and tonight game was poor we were lucky

Far too many games have been played like tonight’s offering and far too few like last Wednesday’s!

No other team has found anything "tricky" about this Panthers team, they are cut adrift at the bottom of the league and are very very unlikely to get a playoff spot.
Panthers only have 12 regulation wins all season, 3 of them against the Devils. The other 9 wins are split over the other 8 teams!

A win's a win and all that but it's the inconsistency which baffles me.
Chad's punishment totally deserved IMO, an unnecessary play.
Oh... and more turnovers today than Greggs !
So frustrating.

Tbh we were cruising that game until the Pietroniro Boarding / fight / game. that 5 min penalty nearly killed us and gave the Panthers some confidence. Had that not happened, I am sure we would be sitting here with a five or six goal cushion. Having said that we then made very hard work of the rest of the game

Yeah lots of loose passes and sloppy clearances plus at times on the PK we almost had a death wish by pushing up too aggressively and getting caught out.

Let’s not put all the blame on Pietroniro, he has had enough to put up with, he did what he did early in the game silly as it may have been. But the rest of the game, the majority of the game was down to silly, stupid, passionless, and pathetic play by the most inconsistent team in the league.

You're correct, it wasn't all down to Chad, but his actions didn't help matters.
For what it's worth, I think he's had a pretty rough deal this season.

Think fans of other teams in the league would laugh at the comment 'most inconsistent team in the league'.
The last few months we have been the most consistent team there is. The form table over the last 20 matches we are top of the table. As for the whole season, the most inconsistent team in the league does not finish comfortably in 2nd.

That 5 minute major & the 2 goals conceded really swung the momentum of the game but you're right. A whole bunch of players switched off and Chad isn't too blame for that.

In defence of Wannabe2, we’re so inconsistent that we’re just as likely to lose to the bottom club (Nottingham) 3 times as we are to beat the top team (Sheffield) 3 times.
That to me is pretty much the definition of inconsistent!

So with Belfast losing to Fife today, and losing to Nottingham the last time they played, and also being 8 points behind us having played a game more. We're still more inconsistent than them?
Surely by definition the most inconsistent team in the league is 5th..
