Covid Pass

This is a problem that is difficult to solve, as we all know there are some individuals who will always flaut the rules. How to approach this problem is a bit of a conundrum, would stewards be able to physically remove people from the arena? laying hands on people can be trouble in more ways than one, how the stewards would stand legally who knows? some people would obviously take exception to being man handled and would the stewards want to do it anyway? they don't want to put their neck on the line for a few quid.
I believe the club needs some sort of system where as people entering the rink are informed that they must wear a mask and if their intention is to flaut this advice would mean a ban for future games and be asked to leave at the interval.
It annoys me that people don't seem to give a hoot for following covid rules and something needs to be done to reduce the possibility of our rink being closed due to non conforming to rules.
Wear your masks clowns!
Maybe Taz could go and put a big comedy massive mask (on long pole) in front of groups of offenders so that they couldn't watch the game and hopefully a few would be shamed into masking up. The downside is that some may see this as a positive thing to be shown off.

The problem is mask wearing is not a rule - it's the !aw

Where the problem arises is that WG is relying on stewards/private security/venue management to enforce the law - this is unfair unless WG formally delegate powers equivalent to those of the police and this has not happened

Get block 13 to start shouting "put your masks on, put your masks on, put your masks on or leave" then have the security go around and tell then they were warned and actually start removing these people from the arena with a month long ban, there is literally only one excuse for not wearing a mask that I will accept and that's if you've suffered domestic abuse in the form of having something shoved over your face, anything other than that you mask up or leave the damn arena.

£60 for first offences doubling for each subsequent offence to £1920 ( can't find out what happens after that!)- enforced by premises owner but only p.o.!ice can issue on the spot fines

Maybe Todd needs to pay a couple of police for the next few game nights

Not the job of fans, or us in block 13 to call out others not wearing a mask.

We’re there to enjoy the game and get behind the team, same as everyone else, we wouldn’t have time to do that if we have to do the job of stewarding staff also. ;);)

Haha worth a try bud, mass shaming idiots use to be effective, though now a days it would probably go right over their heads

Agree they are clowns but we don’t need to get physical though. A simple “please put your mask on or you’ll be asked to leave” for the first offence, second time they are asked to leave by security - not stewards.
the other week when those rugby boys were in block 20 messing about all with out masks. Todd announced two or three times that they needed to cover up, that was the time that a steward should have gone down and told them. After a steward… its security. Should be as easy as that. The risk you have here is that fans will start to police it themselves. People could start telling others to cover up, that for me is when you get confrontation. Stewards are there for safety not security. It needs a joined up approach.

E.D.S. think that’s the key wording ( please put your mask on or you’ll be asked to leave ) that sounds so much sterner, than just put your mask on,or jestering to put one on. It sure needs addressing unfortunately.

The problem is people are using the "exception excuse" we had oen in our block who came in wearing a mask then took it off and when challenged by a steward he pulled a Google document up about being exempt.

I work in healthcare and if there is a potential exploit to get around something a certain proportion of people will milk the heck out of it. These people are often very aggressive when challenged which makes the situation trickier for others as even a polite interjection might be met with abuse. Appealing to their public spirit doesn’t work as they usually don’t have any.

Tricky for the club as short of visible hit squads going around challenging mask phobes, such a large number of people are unmasked, usually in groups, it’s hard for a lone steward to do much especially mid game.

It all comes down to money & votes, they prefer 20 metre cycle lanes to nowhere, street widening and closures, to then dig them up when they’ve realised the errors. It’s easier for Dickford to put responsibility onto individuals whilst sounding sincere and caring, he’s saving money and not getting blamed for upsetting people. He is after all part of the Teflon Labour Party, it’s always someone else’s fault........

You don’t have to challenge anybody. Simple implementation of strict ticket selling. Everyone at the game seen not wearing a mask is asked to present their ticket. You identify that individual from the ticket. You allow them to continue watching the game. They then a day later receive an e mail stating that unless they present proof of a valid exception reason before the next game, they will not be issued any further tickets and won’t be allowed into the rink.

I like your idea but I'd also add they are removed from the game and no refund will be issued unless they can provide a valid exemption from a registered gp.
