Last year we had all 3 Stewarts and the one we didn't want to keep let the two we wanted go!
Mind you, Brian has had his best years in the EIHL, teams now know to draw him out and put a man in behind him.....goal
Can't fault him for passion though!
He will be a key element for Guildford this season. Despite Devils' fans taunting him, there was an acknowledgement of how skilled he is.....and a collective frustration that the close games between our teams was more often than not down to outstanding performances from Brian!

Are his stats that impressive though? The NCAA is a high scoring league and he wasn't even in the top 100 for points last year. Seems decent enough but there are plenty who have had better NCAA stats and have been nothing spectacular in the EIHL.

Gerard Hanson has much better stats playing in the same NCAA division as Jack Prince, I'd expect him to be on the 3rd line and end up with 0.6-0.7 points per game.

His hips must come up to the crossbar!

I would normally laugh at this but they have had a 6"5 goalie the last 3 seasons!!
I appreciate this guy is only going to be their back-up and fits the U23 rule, but he look nowhere near ready for EPIHL, let alone EIHL.
I fear for Coventry if Renny Marr is on a 2 way and this guy is their regular back-up...

Didn't think his figures look that impressive either, G39 P 26. It's not the NHL.
Not impressive, sorry but don't cut it.
I've tried to look at some comparable players,

this guy was 9&16 = 25p in his final NCAA season and went straight into the AHL http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=121949
this guy went 8 + 18 = 26p in his final NCAA season and did the same: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=46004
Malcolm Gould of Dundee this year did very similar: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=54853

this guy went 10+16 in slightly less games and went straight into the NHL: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=226309
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=97626

These would all be considered very good players at EIHL level.

On a side note, Matty Davies has signed in the NIHL, after putting up 88 points in 48 games in the EPIHL (http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=39893)

Talk about a wasted talent.

We've been quite lucky over the last 3 years, we've had a fit man between the pipes, although it seems quite comical seeing all the stretching he does, Brian Stewart hardly missed any ice time, so I hope we haven't become complacent.
As you say if the new lad isn't up to the standard, We will need Nasty to stay fit or we're in trouble.
Unfortunately I don't think we have the spare cash for a proven backup like Mike Will, I said on previous threads, he was outstanding when he replaced Bownsie last season.

Guess the thinking is that Nasty plays even if carrying a niggle otherwise bring in longer term injury cover using insurance money maybe?

Scott Aarsen. One hell of a d-man. Would have taken him in a Devils jersey over the past few years. He's definitely tainted now though.
