Anyone else slightly concerned about the Centre position? If Dupont and Skate Skalde are the final signings I think we look a little light at Centre. Aaron Fox said in an interview a few weeks ago that Sheffield were determined to be the strongest team in the league at Centre and I think they’ve achieved that. Hodgman, Oleksuk, Connolly, Armstrong, Phillips is strong. I’m surprised we haven’t signed a specialist centre that is clearly the first line centre, unless there’s still an announcement to come.
I appreciate ive never seen players like Lammon, Cox, Sanford in the flesh but none of them scream “proven first line centre” to me.

I agree. Said a couple of weeks back as the forwards seem really strong at wing but not centre. Hopefully the final piece is a proven centre who can dominate.

We won't have to wait long. Final signing at 5pm!
As I said earlier I think this is the right decision, Follow up the Myers news with some positivity. Not sure I buy into this “Let Myers have his day” thing. I’m a big fan of Myers but he did spend 10 seasons away from Cardiff. Great player for us but maybe I don’t see him as the Cardiff legend that others do. Just my opinion tho

Well of course, Matthew Myers was a specialist centre and no longer a Devil.

Myers has been a great player for us but this is pro sports and it’s been decided that we go in a different direction, just as he did when he left the Devils to go to Nottingham many years ago. I hope he continues his career though, still has a lot to offer someone in the EIHL.

According to coach Skalde, Dupont is indeed a natural and experienced centre. He should be playing that first line centre roll. He's got the size, the grit and the skill to be that first line centre. Not too many guys in our league have seasons of 17 and 18 goals at the AHL level and he also has proven himself as a scorer and leader in his international career as well. I'm very excited about Dupont joining us along with his young family.

That’s good to know Steve. I thought Dupont was going to play left wing

Time to revise those line predictions! Thanks Steve.

In that case, how about:

Reid / Dupont / Crandall
Cox / Lammon / Sanford
McNally / Dixon / Davies
Duggan / Waller

Yeah if Reid or Crandall can play LW then I think that's right. EP has them down as RW only, but they're experienced guys I'm sure one of them could play LW.

There really is a mixture of youth and experience there. That first one has 30 years pro experience between them, the second line has 6. DuPont looks like he will add some toughness to the lineup too, as well as points.
