I'll go more into this when the season is done, but if you compare our top line players Vs Belfast's and Sheffield's, I really think we need to move on and sign younger hungrier first line players to actually compete with them
I think there’s a better team in our group than we are seeing, I don’t think the coach is getting the best out of what we got

I don’t think they will be that bothered by their record against Glasgow if they lift the trophy
But it's not stopping some of their fans having a complete meltdown on social media. And the same for Sheffield.

There have been some ridiculous comments on here in recent weeks and I don't know if those doing so are doing it out of irony/sarcasm or they really are that daft and don't realise it.

Based on some of the comments I've seen on here you'd think we were 9th or 10th. The league is far more competitive this year than in the last 3 years and yet we still get complete meltdowns everytime we lose again.

Our title challenge was ended by:
-Injuries that saw us play short-benched for a long period.
-The Gypsy curse that Keefe has put on us.

I look at the game around the turn of the year where we couldn't even ice 3 lines. Several games where we had led but we tired and conceded goals in the last 5-10 minutes which cost us. I reckon a conservative estimate would say that injuries cost us 6 points between December and January and that is ultimately what has cost us being in the mix now.

That and our record against Belfast. You look back at the first games in both arenas and we outplayed the Giants for long periods in both games but injuries away and missed chances at home meant the Giants got 4 points and we only got 1. It could easily have been 4 points to 0 to us and suddenly we're 1 point behind Belfast and two points behind Sheffield with a game in hand.

Sheffield are a good team and you can't expect to win there like some of our fans seem to think we should be. Even Belfast have only got 1 point from there this season. Belfast have also only got 1 point from games in Nottingham this season.

The league title will be decided by fine margins. Considering everything that has happened this season we haven't been as far away as others have suggested.

That means Belfast have taken just 1 league point from Glasgow all season. #SackKeefe
They're top of the league and miles ahead of us. Like someone else said, I’m sure they aren’t arsed. I wish we were in their position…unfortunately we’ve not won the league since 17/18! Oh and they won the Challenge cup too, which we bottled

To end a 20 year wait.
Similar to the 20 year wait for a POFW

Not having a go at you here RD17 but As has been said, the level of entitlement some exhibit is astonishing if you follow professional sports for any length of time. Nobody likes losing. But I certainly roll the eyes at 'just wanting to be competitive' posters who then meltdown when we have a loss.

I think if we won the conti cup this weekend instead of January , I would imagine we would all think of the season as being a bit better, unfortunately it seems ages away and it looks like our league season ended that day in January with quite a few poor home performances since(apart from when we play Sheffield at home )

I think this is spot on. The win in the Conti Cup was something that anyone who was there will not forget and I do wonder about the emotional impact (as well as the horrible injury issues we have had)

Still not sure if this season is going to fizzle out or whether we can gather ourselves for the playoffs but I thought we looked tired on Sunday but not a million miles away from where we need to be. The league has gone but given what we have seen already this season, I'm still cautiously optimistic about being in the mix for the last trophy

Absolutely no offence taken and I 100 percent respect your opinion. I for one certainly don’t mind losing but the one thing I expect is 100% from each and every player. There is no way I’ve seen that from certain players in recent weeks, hence why I complain. I understand we’ve had injuries but we’ve been able to roll 4 lines for weeks. Even when we’ve had 3 and a half lines, that’s fine for the EIHL. Other teams manage it.

What I like about Belfast is if they are playing crap, Keefe will call a timeout and give them a bollocking. It’s worked many times for them this season and they sit top of the league - deservedly so. Why can’t Russell do the same?

Do you have an examples of the many times this season when Keefe has done that?

Keefe did call a timeout against Guildford at 1-1 - but that wasn't to give them a bollocking it was to focus on their PP plays. And it worked so was a great coaching move.

But, he also called a timeout at home to Dundee when they were losing.....and they still lost.
And in early Feb he called one when they were losing in Dundee....and they again still lost.
The day before he called one in Fife because the Flyers had got it back to 3-5... and 32 seconds later Fife made it 4-5. Then 5-5.

Keefe also got a lot of stick from his own fans for his Timeout calls. In Sheffield they were 2-1 up with less than 9 minutes to go and he called one. 2 minutes later they gave up a silly Too Many Men call and conceded the equaliser on the PP. Lots of Belfast and Sheffield fans questioned why he called it then instead of saving it for later.

I've gone back to the start of the season looking at when Keefe called Timeouts and the only 'good' one other than Guildford was in Coventry when he called it at 2-0 and they got back to 2-2. But they still lost in OT.

What examples am I missing?
