Stars v Devils - 16/01 - 6:30pm - League - Chat/Updates

So gutted the winning streak has ended :( but we are still top of the league...... :D
Wow how things have change. We would have been so glad of getting 1 point on the road last year :D . Well done Devils 22 wins in a row is so impressive :)

Amazing streak and has been a pleasure to be there for it, but as has already been said, the pressure is now off- let's forget the streak and move onwards and upwards- at least we take a point from tonight. We're still in a very strong position and we know that we have the team to beat anybody in this league in any arena and we are the team that nobody wants to play. Fitting that Dundee are the ones to end our streak- maybe they're the only team in this league who can actually beat us! ;)

Let's go Devils!

1 point tonight, which according to the table on the EIHL website leaves us 2 points ahead with 3 games in hand:

Rank ELITE GP W L OTL SOL PTS
1 Cardiff Devils 33 28 5 0 0 56
2 Belfast Giants 36 25 7 2 2 54
3 Sheffield Steelers 33 26 7 0 0 52
4 Nottingham Panthers 35 22 9 0 4 48
5 Braehead Clan 35 17 16 0 2 36
6 Coventry Blaze 32 16 13 2 1 35
7 Hull Stingrays 30 14 14 2 0 30
8 Dundee Stars 36 8 25 0 3 19
9 Newcastle Vipers 35 8 25 0 2 18
10 Edinburgh Capitals 35 6 26 1 2
Looking at the league table Sheffield still look the danger to me. The Sky game on the Friday night is beginning to look huge.

Anyone got the respective fixtures of Sheff and Belfast to hand - have either got easier run-ins?

Well done lads! incredible streak which had to end somewhere. On the plus we still get a point and a monkey off our back. Now we get down to business.

Ah well - it was great while it lasted.
An achievement to be very very proud of.

Now the pressure is off, and we can concentrate on one game at a time.
First up Panthers on Wednesday.

Well done to the lads - still amazing.

This was always going to be a hard one, especially after facing Jeager last night.

Every team wanted to end the streak, and the Stars taking the point in a three point game makes it a bit sweater.

That table doesn't include tonights games. We are now 3 points clear of Belfast with 2 games in hand.

Looks like Shuff have the easier run in, although at least they have to play the Giants 3 times whilst we only have 1 game left against them.

Hmmm so looking at the run-ins, we have 9 games against top 5 teams, Belfast have 8 and Sheffield have 9.... Not a lot in it, I can't see any team having a noticeably easier set of fixtures.

I know, I know, sorry everyone and thanks to all who have pointed that out to me.

I accept my punishment and am now off to Sheffield to get a replica jersey to wear at Wednesday's game...

The only result not on that table is the Cardiff one.

No-one has commented on Blaze slipping to 6th in the standings.

Although, I think the Clan, Panthers and Blaze are now going to be the king makers. Fallen a little too far off the pace themselves, those booby results could make the difference.

BRING IT ON!

On tonights performance its not neccessarily the top five we should all be worried about

Yeah - the Stars in Dundee are the ONLY team we seem to need to worry about. They are the only team to beat us since almost the start of October.

Also, this is the first Elite game Craig Weller has ever lost.
