10 reasons to come to The Matchka
We’re a week away from the night when we celebrate the record breaking Devils team of 2010-11, as they play the current roster to support the Matzka family in their fight against ALS (Motor Neurone Disease).
As the game is rapidly approaching we thought we would tell you more about what to expect on the night, and give you plenty of reasons (we’re reliably informed ten is the perfect number) to BUY A TICKET and come along for what’s sure to be a fun evening, for a fantastic cause.
1) ROLLING CLOCK. We’re not going to have any stoppages, just 20 straight minutes per period. Because let’s face it, fitness is an issue. We couldn’t expect Lordo and the boys to take on the History makers for a full game, could we? Plus, you get an early finish on school night to get ready to bid in the….
2) JERSEYS. The specially designed Matchka jerseys are glorious, and you will have the chance to take one home with you in our post game auction. Start practicing your best poker faced, subtle bidding gestures. And don’t scratch your head in the auction. We’re ruthless.
3) CHUCK A PUCK. We’re giving away an Audi convertible (for a weekend) to the best throwing arm in the Arena on Tuesday. And very nice it is too.
4) THE MATCHKA PROGRAMME. This will be a fantastic souvenir of a very special night, with unique content, great images and of course it makes a pretty good autograph book too. Don’t miss out!
5) NEW BOSS, MEET THE OLD BOSS. Our unique game sees Andrew Lord’s roster facing Gerad Adams and his team. For a guy who spent the majority of his Devils career in a tent, we’ve got some shades ready for G in the shiny IAW.
6) GUEST PLAYERS! You’ve (maybe) heard the rumours. They’re true! We will have some special guests on team Matzka, which we will announce over the next few days. No names yet but there’s four Devils, including one member of the current roster. Also we have something very special to tell you this week about Guesting players. But we can’t do it now – eleven is the wrong number of reasons!
7) PIZZA! Our friends at the Artisan cook are donating £2 for every pizza bought on the night to the Matchka fund. Wood-fired generosity of the highest order, thanks guys.
8) STUUUUUU!!! Be honest, you’ve missed seeing other fans thinking you’re booing one of your own, right? Well everyone can get behind #18 once more
9) MERCH! We’ve got lovely ‘My Turn’ T-shirts and hoodies for you to take home, knowing you’ve done a great thing helping our fundraising. And they’re gorgeous too, which helps.
10)IT’S OUR TURN. Scott is taking his turn, and his beautiful family is battling by his side. This is our chance, YOUR chance, to take a turn. There could be no greater support for Scott, celebration of our History makers, or just flat out wonderful sight than the IAW packed out for The Matchka. You can buy your tickets online from
