Rumours Thread

I agree - there is nothing that annoys me more than I know something you don't know posts.

Riss n Russ, you seem to do several of these... information you glean from players at the rink when you are training?
Personally as well as the annoyance factor of someone flouting their knowledge and not sharing it, it riles me just as much when you abuse a players honesty in telling you something but spreading it (or the potential of it) around on a public forum. Frankly I'm surprised they haven't worked out who they can't tell yet and started keeping quieter around you.

There are numerous people that read these forums - who work for clubs, who play for them, who are very close with the coach and who respect those relationships enough to keep completely quiet about what they know..... then there are others who seem to want people to know they are 'in the loop' and have to put it on a forum.

It's important to remember too, whoever we do sign is on the third line. We have had pursuasive arguments already for someone like Payette so it can't be all bad, and they will have to come cheap whoever it is.

As have been mentioned already, Franny mentioned last night that no one yet has been signed, they were talking to a few guys, and that the new guy would be a young gun with something to prove.

Spot on Wannabe. Think all our 'known name' signings have now been made. No player seems to be seriously connected with the Devils at the moment and some of us (including me  ) have been clutching at straws discussing players that still haven't signed anywhere.
The fact that no-one has been seriously linked yet does suggest that G is going for a completely new guy. Whoever it is, he'll be the right fit for sure. The roster will be complete - BRING ON THE SEASON!

Yes we do seem to know quite a bit and we do give alot of correct information before it is all released, if I give names of players leaving, then my contacts will know where it has come from and respect them and the others involved too much just to satisfy people, sorry for annoying you so much I wasn't intending to annoy you personally, and I am more than aware who works for who and who plays for, the ice rink is my second home 5 days a week down there you could call it my second home.

Anyway, this is a rumors thread as its been said on quite a few occasions, but if anything does come out in the news, I wont be on here bragging 'I told you so' Im too old for that.

So if you can't say anything, why bother with the 'I know but can't say' posts? Or are you too young to refrain from doing that?

In that case rissnruss - what was your posting about?

Assuming it is about a player - do you know the name?
If you do - but can't post it - then you shouldn't post it at all.

It seems as though I have hit a nerve, so know I wont be posting here anymore as I feel the personal insults that are now coming my way are really not worth it, no I'm not that young, but words do hurt those that are vunerable and I thank you.

But please accept my apologises, I wasn't intending to hurt, annoy or aggrivate people.

The above user has had their account deleted at their request.

I suggest people move on and just await whatever news announcements the club have lined up.

So now that little episode is over, who do people feel is the ideal mould for our third liner?
I think we have enough toughness in our team so how about someone with a bit of skill? A player of Latulippe's ability would be most welcome!

For me, it needs to be someone with defensive capability, to give the specialist teams a bit of a rest. Someone who is tough but doesn't take stupid penalties, but with enough skill to step up on to the second line when Brad/Jay are inevitably in the penalty box. To be honest at the moment with Towe/G/Ben etc on the third line, we don't have a great deal of size, or real 2nd line regular shift ability for those penalties that are going to happen. So I'd hope that the player is big enough to hold his own on the boards but not as slow as some of our previous bigger players.

I've been thinking about the enforcing possibilities. With Doug being effectively replaced on the D by Richardson, I think we could run the risk of Hartwick/Wes having to step up a little physically on the D. I wouldn't like to see either of these players fighting too often, but then neither would I like to see an offensive talent like Voth in the box too much. I'd hope that the third liner could use his physical presence to prevent some altercations and provide a little bit of protection for the likes of Towe and Davies without spending all his time in the bin.

Not much to ask then :D

I agree, I said Bruce a while back and am sticking with it. :D

With regard to Puck's point, I would think if Jarvis did have to step up then G would step back on D. I wouldn't want just two import D men, so ideally we need someone who can step up (like Bruce) for that third line.

I think G will step up when needed as he clearly has a lot of faith in Franny, but I wouldn't want to see the coach in the box too often.
