After the excitement of getting shut out in Belfast again we head back to domestic action against the Stars in the Bay Saturday night. Dundee are down near the danger zone in the playoff race but did beat Belfast 3-1 recently so can't be taken for granted.

Will be tough to get up for this game after last night's result,
Are you talking about the fans or the Team?

Would expect the players to use every game now to gain momentum towards Playoff qualification. IThey are professional sportsmen and it's still a competition they can qualify for.
This game is also at home....fans will be expecting a competitive hardworking performance

Absolutely correct, yesterday is history time to move out of the naughty corner and show a bit of class. If you pick up your wage packet then earn it, it’s not rocket science, we are talking about professional athletes here.

With a late rugby ko, the usual Saturday night "one game a month" boozers causing havoc walking up and down the aisles during play with multiple pints in hand, I may give it a miss.

Dundee return to Cardiff for the final time this season. We’ve had four games against the Starts so far with a 3-1-0 record – Dundee’s only win being the 4-2 win they had in the last match in Cardiff in early January. In the last 10 games versus Dundee in Cardiff, Devils have won 9 out of the 10 games and they’ve all been high scoring affairs with an average of 8 goals per game and Dundee scoring 4 goals against us in half of those games. In fact, relatively speaking defences aren’t the strongest part of either team’s game wherever they’ve met with Cardiff averaging 4.7 goals per game and Dundee averaging 3 goals per game over their last 20 meetings.

Recent league form for Dundee is 6 points from their last 5 games with Cardiff having the league’s best record over their last 5 games played with 8 points, but Dundee have only lost once in their last 5 away games (including a win in Belfast last week) and Cardiff have won 3 out of their last 5 home games.

Josh MacDonald has scored 8 points (4 + 4) this season against Dundee and averages 6.87 points per 60 minutes time-on-ice and is the only player to have scored points in each of the 4 games.

Devils announced on Friday evening that Ben Bowns gets the start for this game and he has a 3-0-0 record against the Stars this season with a 94.12% saves rate.

Shots on goal come fairly freely for these two teams against each other with Cardiff averaging 39.75 shots per game and Dundee 38.5 but Cardiff have had a conversion rate of 11.95% whereas Dundee have scored on 7.14% of their SoG.

Our 11 minor penalties taken have given Dundee 9 powerplay opportunities and Devils have killed off every one of them. We’ve had 10 powerplay chances and converted 3 of them. All powerplays have been 5-on-4 affairs.

Devils haven’t yet trailed going into the second or third periods and Dundee have only had their noses on front for 31 minutes of the overall game time played (12.9%). Devils have been in front of 55% of the game time.

Devils have 51% of the face-off wins. Evan Mosey leads +/- scores with +5 and he is also our time-on-ice leader with 22 mins 11 secs per game.

Credit to Dundee. A team of mainly small, fast players who are hard working and never give up. Their goalie, Fiske, played really well in p1. They have beaten Giants in Belfast this season...something we couldn't do so they were not to be underestimated.

Thought our Guys had another gear tonight if they had to use it, but they are probably saving some in the tank for tomorrow in Sheffield to try and avoid another possible drubbing that happens when our team plays back to back games this season.

Shout outs to....

Evan Mosey - our best defenceman, a player who reads the game so well. Excellent positioning and intelligent decision making and passing.
Ryan Barrow - the guy was everywhere tonight. His energy and tenacity is incredible. He never gives up.
Tyler Busch - gritty and hardworking in all situations tonight.
