On my wander for the 2nd Period I was at the top of Block 14 - said gentleman and his friends were all clearly drunk, unmasked, and stood up dancing in every break in play (playing up to whichever of them was filming on their phone).

Part of me wanted the security guy to lay him out on the ice - rugby tackle style....

Is it me or do devils play better with kozun in goals?

I personally think we do.

Don't know why that is but if it helps start him tomorrow against steelers.

Apart from dupont who contributed nothing AGAIN.

I wonder how much this type of problem is down to games being on a Saturday night. The impression I get is a lot of groups out for a Saturday night binge rather than to watch the match. If crowd behaviour is becoming this much of a problem it needs to be stamped on.

I've just asked about and apparently it was a devils fan who said he won the 50/50 but ripped his ticket up so he decided to run into the ice to collect his winnings lmao.
It was his first game. He was in block 14, with a big group of lads.

He came over to 13 to act the big man and try to join in chants and take selfies.

Drunken bellend.

Disappointed that he managed to get so far onto the ice and amongst the team before anyone even came close to getting him out of there mind you.

I have to disagree on DuPont.

He didn’t contribute on the board, that’s true. But he put in a shift infront of their netminder tonight, stood there like a rock at every opportunity, something we have seriously missed this season so far.

I'm honestly surprised he wasn't beaten up by the players, there definitely is an increase in idiots turning up to games on Saturdays, 90% of block 12 didn't have masks in and the poor stewards tried their best to get them to put masks on and they flat out ignored the staff.

The biggest worry got to be if he mingled with the players on the ice, Has he got covid, the same as all the other idiots in block 12 ...not wearing masks.

This is why I prefer Sunday games. Saturday crowds are far different, always more aggressive.

Sunday has traditionally been hockey night in Cardiff and it should have stayed that way imo.

There seems to have been more incidents of trouble this season already than most I remember.
saturdays will generate more money at the bar , so no brainer for the club , but yes these idiots need to be sorted , if drunk on site, need to be escorted out..

Back on to the match itself:
The Devils did OK. It was encouraging for us to come back from 2 down but boy have we missed McNally. Just shows how we are missing someone who will go to the net regularly.

Checks were finished last night, the passing was better in places and the shots taken were closer and more varied. Still at times people need to pull the trigger, some seem too scared to try and rather pass even when in a decent position.

Last night there appeared to be more genuine opportunities for one-timers both on the PP and ES - with passes being properly weighted and to the correct side for the shooter - but again taking that extra touch or 2 allows the space created be closed down and the NM get a good sight of the puck.

That side looked like the Devils of a few weeks back prior to the recent slump - not perfect but a work in progress. I fear that if we turn in the same performance tonight we may get properly turned over. Whilst not the same number as previously we are still giving up too many chances on the rush and what are soft goals - McNulty's being a fine example last night.

I'd disagree that Kozun should start tonight. He's a very, very capable backup but Carruth is the clear number 1 for me.

Finally congrats to Richie on the 900 - was hoping for a goal to make it 100 EIHL goals as well!

Here's hoping this old fool is wrong and we get a win tonight and turn our fortunes around - DuPont hat trick anyone?

Unfortunately, there's drama at most Saturday games due to these groups of drunks, who seem to be in every block and who are not there for the hockey. I’d love to see us go back to Sunday games but bar sales are clearly more important to the club.
