Captains named for Wales V World
The organisers of the HockeySCIPS event are delighted to announce the team Captains for our charity match between the Wales select team and a roster from the Rest of the World.

Leading the Welsh side out onto the ice will be Matthew Myers. Myers is a Cardiff native and this season returns to the EIHL Cardiff Devils following several seasons in Nottingham. His alternate Captains will be Jonathan Phillips, another Cardiff man who captains Sheffield Steelers in the EIHL and returning Devils legend, completing the trio of Cardiff-born leaders of the team – Nicky Chinn.

For the Rest of the World side, the ‘C’ will sit proudly on the jersey of Kenton Smith, who has spent the past three seasons with the EIHL Devils. This is a particularly important cause for Kenton as his son, Zander, is currently being cared for in the Neonatal unit as he was born prematurely.

His alternate Captains will be two more Cardiff Devils, Mark Richardson and Max Birbraer. ‘Richie’ patrols the blueline for the Devils and Great Britain and ‘Boom Boom’ Birbraer is one of the most exciting players in the EIHL.

We would like to thank all our Captains and alternates for their support, and are excited to be announcing more of their teammates at 4pm today.

Zander was born nearly a month ago and was very much premature. He is a gorgeous little man and clearly as tenacious as his Mum, Dad (and uncle!) and is doing well, getting stronger every day.

He is just one more reason why so many people have got behind this cause so far, and more every day.

And now the details of how you can get a hold of a jersey:

With the SCIPS jerseys now released, we are pleased to bring you details of how you can obtain one of these unique pieces of hockey memorabilia.

First up - 'Shirt Off His Back' (SOHB). Our grateful thanks go to Mike Ackland who operates this programme for the Devils and his co-seller Allyn, Josh and Tony.
These guys will be selling SOHB tickets throughout the night, and the lucky draw winners will each receive a jersey straight from the player, presented to them on the ice at the end of the game. Mike will also bring his considerable experience to bear in the auction.

SOHB Jerseys for the night will be:

WALES - James Manson
RoW - Lee Richardson

The rest of the jerseys will then enter the post-game auction, held in the bar after the match. We can accept Cash and card bids, as Imagineer will be on hand to allow any winning bidders who pay by card to 'donate' the winning amount directly to the SCIPS Virginmoney page, online on the night.

These are truly unique jerseys and of course a thoroughly worthy cause so please, do bid and pick up a SOHB ticket!

Should you not be able to attend we will accept email bids to HockeySCIPS@virginmedia.com, which will enter as a reserve for the relevant jersey on the night.
