Unification

what, if, how, could and should question really.

all UK hockey fan web sites unified one place. Each with the own set of mods forums MNL etc. Admin/design staff working together to get the best site layout, function and features.

opinions?

note the thought was provoked by the censorship that appears to be ongoing on some forums as may be a place for all fans to have an open honest difference of opinion and is not a slur on this site and the excellent work the team do here.

Been tried and largely failed in the old Elite website.

What Steelers fans had best hope for is a rival forum with less moderation to arise.

Ah yes the old Elite league forum. What fun that was. If you weren't banned or at the very least suspended for saying something nasty about the steelers or the way the league was run (kinda linked at the time!) then you were nobody!

It would only work (IMO) if it were run by people who knew enough about the UK game and who were not petty enough to ban anyone who said something they didn't necessarily agree with. Good idea if it can be done but I doubt there are enough people with the mindset of our mods on here from other clubs prepared to work it. Makes you thankful for the Inferno really.

The big problem is we are widely mistrusted by the likes of teams and the league. They can't control what is said, and don't like that very little is moderated. But it still takes a lot of monitoring. If we multiplied the traffic by 10, it would get even harder so we'd need a bigger team. We would also want sub forums for each team or loads of topics would get lost.

What we already have works quite well. There is a fairly open forum - The Hockey Forum - which is for all UK hockey fans, and then individual forums for each team.

It would be nice if the other forums allowed free and open debate - but the likes of StalinTalk obviously promote their own agenda. We try not to, although we obviously have our own opinions.
