Taken from the Streatham Redskins Forum....thanks to Don Young

The petition is about keeping the 'Continuity of Ice Provision' until the new Leisure Centre facility is finished. DO sign it, if you are a Player, a Redskins fan, a fan of another team, or even just a casual visitor to this forum. I am sure many of you know of other rinks around the country, which were purchased, then demolished by supermarkets and despite prior promises, never replaced! Read the article dated 7.10am Thursday 15th October, entitled "Streatham Ice Rink Could Close Within Weeks!" at

I've stickied this. I'm not totally sure what weight non local signatures have, but I'm sure Cardiff fans can fully sympathise with the cause, and would urge you to sign it.

As a rink that plays a small yet significant part in our history (the rink where we clinched promotion to the top flight of British Ice Hockey for the first time) I would encourage all Devils fans to sign this.

The rink was also the breeding ground for a few Devils players including Jeff Smith and Neil Browne.

I know that times change and things move on but its always sad to lose a piece of hockey history. On the opening weekend trip to Newcastle, a sight-seeing trip to Durham brought the sad site of the old Wasps rink fenced off and ready for demolition.

Cheers,

John
