The biggest shock in this is that they didnt approach G.

Strange timing. This could really push the Blaze on or they could just crumble (even more) now.

We've been absolute garbage for 90% of games this season, not what I bought a season ticket for to see dross on the ice, soderstrom was so far out of his depth he should have been wearing a life jacket!couldn't be any worse under lefebvre.

This just made Thursdays game a lot harder.

A new coach and players playing for their places on the roster.

Nice to see an upfront, honest and respectful press release about the change too. Perhaps Blaze's PR person could pass some tips to ours.

Think it was the right call. Great servant to the club, but it just didn't work with Matty on the bench. The Blaze games this season have been dire.

You mean Blaze don't need a 'Head of Player Development'? I though it is an essential part of any coaching change 'moving forward' to have this essential coaching role.

Oh wait, wrong car crash!

This will be tough for Leturtle (Mike Ware and Vez incidents if you are unsure) as he pretty much cant make any poster changes and is stuck with an underperforming team that someone else put together.

Am I right in thinking it was Lefebvre who has twice already this season tried to climb the plexi behind the bench to fight someone on the Cardiff bench?

Yes, and ironically the same Lefebvre who although tried to climb the plexi to get at the Devils bench got absolutely battered by that tough guy Sacratini, and was absolutely terrified and skated like an idiot away from Mike Ware.

Maybe part of G's payoff agreement included a clause that he couldn't go to another EIHL team this season.
Or maybe Coventry are waiting for Whistle's month with us to end before approaching him?
If we are serious about going for the playoffs and being competitive for next season, Whistle should be signed up NOW!

If we are serious about selling more than 100 season tickets Whis should be signed up now.

Glad for the Blaze that a replacement coach has been sorted although suprised Tait not appointed player/coach for rest of season.

Whatever is happening at that club doesn't alter the fact that Ginand, Guthrie and Henrich will still be massive threats on Thursday night.

Devils have a fantastic chance to further improve their league position. Hope Whis will have our Guys wanting this even more.

Surely PR can see the impact Whis has already had on our team performance and motivation
PLEASE confirm his contract for next season......our current coach is going to be a huge part to our Team's success.

Oh please don't say that we need Whis on the bench for the rest of the season.

We have made a huge commitment to the playing side of the business this year. The infrastructure and the support for the players is second to none. We have made every signing we’ve been asked to make and carried extra imports and housing to give us the best chance of success on the ice. We expect to see more of a return for that commitment than we have done.
The quote above is from Blaze Chairman, Andy Buxton. It's quite interesting how he sees where they should fit in the league. There is 8 points between 8th and 2nd - there really isnt much in it. I understand the hockey hasnt been the most entertaining but they are still getting crowds of 1900+. Are owners starting to become a bit too demanding?

Dundee and Braeahead have really upset the natural order this year and it's great for the sport in the UK that it isnt the same teams always at the top. If those two sides had the seasons they had in previous years and teams such as Cardiff and Coventry were two places higher I am certain there would be less P45s going around. Everyone has been taken by surprise by Dundee in particular which is making the middle of the pack teams like us and Coventry seem in a worse situation than previous years. If Soderstrom has been sacked for being 8 points off second because of the budget he has, Doug Christianson and Corey Neilson should be checking the Job Centre and getting their dole paperwork just incase.

Would you prefer Pope?

A European coach who has lived in the UK for sometime now...... wouldn't be surprised if the Devils management considered him for a future coaching role in Cardiff.

Sodestrom was on the bench for the past few seasons working under thommo as defensive coach, and to be brutally honest he was crap at that job as well as head coach, the blaze defence for 3 seasons has been laughable to put it mildly.
