4 pairs of home and away games, 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7 etc.

or 2 groups of 4, 1,3,5,7 and 2,4,6,8

owners get more revenue, we get more games

which would you prefer, and why?

It will never happen as Belfast won't sign up for it due to the additional travel costs and Nottingham (and probably Sheffield as well) will say that they can't get their respective arenas for that many games.

Top 6 for playoffs.
2 groups of 3.
Play each other home and away.

Top 2 qualify for playoff weekend.

Simple scratch the CC (as its pointless), maybe start the league at the end of August, the league will finish a bit early so we can have a slightly longer PO campaign.

split the league up into seeded groups. so first group will be: 1 , 3, 5, 7 ,9 group 2 of course will be 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. play each other home and away. top 2 from each group go through.

semi final match up best of 3 series.

final being a best of 5 series.

Although it means the EIHL don't get their big show case event at the end of the year, so it will never happen.

They could let the Arena teams just play away legs. not anyone else's problem they can t get ice. Why should they have an advantage ? They gain financially throughout the season with their capacities, enabling them to field expensive rosters. They want the penny and the bun. There needs to be some downsides for the arena teams, that will help to create a more level playing field.

They just want it all, they need the rest of the teams if they can t get ice, they can have an option to withdraw from the play off competition

Already been announced that the playoffs will return to the format of 2 groups of 4 teams. Top 2 from each group then qualify for the POFW (Panthers 'ome Favourites Weekend)

Just to keep this level it's not just the Giants travel casts its other teams costs of having to travel to Belfast as well.

I'd bin the P /O weekend and the CC, and just have 3 game series until you get the winner with the higher placed team getting the two home games (home, away, home) . Then re-seed each round highest first etc

Travel shouldn't be too much of a problem with the series format. Best of 5 would be H H A A H... worst case is 3 trips for the lower seed.

No matter how we cut it, the series format has to be a future aim.

Could we rework the Challenge Cup into a showpiece weekend event?

You know what I mean

I hate having the competitions overlap. I'd rather get the cup out of the way before October and just concentrate on the season... and then a meaningful playoffs. Or just ditch the cup all together and start the playoffs nice and early.

the cc over a weekend is a good idea,

maybe even have it like a charity shield kind of opening weekend thing, to get a buzz going for the season,

playoffs are meant to be series,
wouldnt be playoffs otherwise lol.

all this talk is good... but if nothing changes and it stays as is, then i feel a neutral arena is a MUST,
as nice as nottinghams arena is,
a home arena advantage is always going to prevail in a clutch game like that.
bring back the wembley final days!!!!!!!!

Not sure about Wembley, as Scots may complain that its a long way, although they may not. A better idea would be to go back to the MEN. Reasonably central for most teams, unless the phoneix come back in.

On a seperate note, a new London based team would be good though, the handball or basketball arenas in the olympic park would be a good fit for ice hockey......
