It's crazy that the league rules have forced this situation. That said, I can understand why the devils have gone in the direction they have.

Devils have their reasons I am sure, but I wish we had kept him in addition to our existing roster. Even after one game we lost a player! (Covid complications excluded)

This is the crazyness of the eihl roster rules. The big leagues all play 4 lines with various players in reserve who can be called up. Our league doesn't allow us to have 4 complete forward lines.
