Murdy ...

Whether we like it or not, the pressure is on the Devils this year to win the league after just missing out this past 2 seasons. Under those circumstances, it's understandable to start Bowns in most games as there are no easy games anymore. It's a cliche but it is true this year. Perhaps if we can get that monkey off our back and take the league title this year, there will be less pressure on the team next season and you could see some more starts for Murdy if he stays. I hope he does, he's technically very sound.

I appreciate the players play a lot less games here but in North American hockey it's common to see teams use two goalies over back-to-back games. The difference being here is that they have a week in between games to recondition themselves, so can see why teams generally stick with one main goalie.

Bowns is a big player for us and a solid performer - no doubts - but it must be hard on Murdy as he's probably good enough to be getting a lot more ice time than he currently is. If Lord can get them pushing each other hard whilst maintaining a professional attitude and team ethic, then it'll do us wonders in a season like this where we're going for the league.
