Player: Tyson Marsh
Number: 22
Team: Cardiff Devils

During the game Cardiff Devils v Belfast Giants on 07/12/2014, The Department of Player Safety has automatically reviewed the major (5) + game misconduct that Marsh received at 19:47 in the third period for boarding.

The Department of Player Safety has reviewed this incident and has come to the following conclusions...

• The penalty called on the ice has been amended to a major (5) + game misconduct for checking from behind.
• The hit is a check from behind which is both dangerous and reckless, with no regard for the opposition player’s safety.
• The opposition player is in a vulnerable position on the ice along the boards.
• The contact of the hit is directly in the back with the opposition player’s numbers clearly visible and the opposition player makes no sudden movement prior to Marsh delivering the hit.
• The hit is avoidable and the onus is on Marsh delivering the check to not hit an opposition player in such a manner.

The Department of Player Safety has suspended Marsh for one (1) game.

Tony Smith was always going to make sure that he was back to help us take points off Braehead for them

Worded awfully

If it's still only a game, surely Marsh is cleared to play on Friday? It hasn't been changed to a match penalty.

Either way, I think he's lucky.

Maybe DOPS have taken Lloyd's reputation into consideration!? ;)

It's just that the article on the Elite League website reads like this:
The penalty called on the ice has been amended to a major (5) + game misconduct for checking from behind.

instead of this:
The penalty called on the ice has been amended to a major (5) + match misconduct for checking from behind.
Unless of course the suspension differs in some way to a Match Penalty! Was it Boarding previously perhaps?

Tyson will at least be back for Devils' massive game against Braehead.

On Friday Steelers will be missing Latulippe (has left) and Bois still recovering from a knock.
In the body numbers game we have to be thankful for small mercies.

He didn't feature on the Weekend and wasn't in the line-up?

Exactly. Strangely worded.

I think the 5+game will go on Tysons record and will not contribute to points (If they still do that).

Tha match ban given is something outside of the boundry of 'during the game'.

I think :)
