ok, nobody laugh.

being fairly new to the game and never skated before im very keen to get my feet on the ice, but have no idea where to start :?

done quite alot of sking in the past, but i dont suppose skating is anything like it, not to mention a much harder landing WD

any hints, tips, advice very welcome

Best bet is have some lessons through planet ice. Failing that just get on the ice and ask someone who can skate for help. Im usually there Sundays and am always helping beginners. I have taught about 10 people to hockey stop. Trouble is they are better than me now and keep upstaging me

As someone who was never actually taught, I'd really suggest the formal lesson route.
