The Devils have now won 13 home games in a row, 16 if you count pre-season. However, the team have recorded 7 defeats on the road.
In all sports, a home win is statistically the most likely outcome.
We all have our theories including:

Sleeping in your own bed and eating home cooking,
Better familiarity with the home stadium,
Crowd support.

Researchers Moskowitz and Wertheim believe that unknowingly, referees tend to favour the home team.

Officials don't consciously decide to give the home team an advantage -- but the emotion of the home crowd, once in a while, influences them to make a call that makes a whole lot of noisy people very happy.

An argument in favour of this theory comes from a research paper by Thomas Dohmen about home-field advantage in the Germany Bundesliga, the country's top football league.

Dohmen found that home-field advantage was smaller in stadiums that happened to have a running track surrounding the soccer pitch, and larger in stadiums without a track.

The proximity of the fans and the noise that they make is clearly a huge factor. Devils players regularly thank the red army for their amazing support.

Some players have commented that they hated coming to the BBT as visitors, but love it as a Devil.

This suggests that the atmosphere created in the BBT has to be transferred to the new house as it might be more important than the size of the ice.
