Hockey Charity Weekend

Thread starter #1
Guys n Galls...

As some of you are aware, I am taking part in an ice hockey charity event on 25th July 2009 in Basingstoke, where I am raising money for Breast Cancer Care.

Recreational Hockey players and hockey fans from all over the UK are coming together for this weekend to raise as much as possible for charity. Some of you have already donated, and for that I am very very grateful. For those that have not, this is just a gentle reminder of the event and should you wish to donate anything then please visit my donation page at:

Many thanks in advance -

The website for this event is:-

http://www.ukfallstars.co.uk

There are about 8 of us from Cardiff who are involved both on and off the ice. The event is the brainchild of Gareth Hubback (of Devils TV fame!) and David Grant (Big Dave Steeler) who spotted the opportunity for an annual summer charity hockey weekend. Last year the event was in Sheffield and raised £3,600 for Dreams Come True. This year, In Basingstoke, the organisers have pledged to try and raise as much as possible for two charities, Dreams Come True and Breast Cancer Care.

In addition to the charity hockey game on Saturday afternoon, there will be a quiz night, a karaoke night, a charity BBQ and the UK's first ever "Skate for Life".

Do please consider whether you can donate anything to these worthwhile charities. All the money that Dwoods raises through his link in his post above goes directly to the charities.

and yes, the Cardiff 5 will be making their debut performance at the karaoke night :D

We have announced two of our aution prizes that will be available. The first item is a signed Breast Cancer jersey signed by the cast of Naked Truth, including Abi Titmuss.

The next auction prize that we are offering to you is straight from the most exciting football league in the world, and if you are of a blue persuasion in the city of Manchester, then this unique item of memorabilia will be of interest to you.

We have a signed Manchester City shirt, signed by members of the first team squad of the 2008/2009 season. Players such as Shaun Wright-Phillips, Elano and of course Robhino have took time out to sign this shirt to help us with our target of raising valuable funds for our two charities.

As well as the shirt, this comes with Official letter of authenticity, as well as a Manchester City poster.

We would like to thank Manchester City Football club, and the Thomas family for their help and assistance in acquiring this unique item of memorabilia.

Massive thank you on behalf of all the UK Forum Allstars organisation committee for all the sponsorship that people from Cardiff gave to the event.

After an amazing weekend of alcohol, karaoke, alcohol oh and a hockey game thrown in there somewhere, initial calculations show that the fundraising for Breast Cancer Care and Dreams Come True has surpassed last year's level.

Thank you to all of those who have sponsored any of Cardiff's participants (the Cardiff Line did incredibly well for the Breast Cancer Care team leading to a resounding victory).

Same again next year then :D
