Game Worn Jerseys

Thread starter #1
Sorry to spam this forum, but I have setup a marketplace for you to sell your game worn and replica jerseys, as well as a place to buy new ones!

We work upon No Sale = No Fees.

The site has no content at the moment, but the site launched today and already had 400+ page views and a lot of positive engagement on social media.

The site is http://gamewornhub.com and the twitter handle @GameWornHub.

If you have twitter we would appreciate the follow.

For those who are not that savy just get in contact and I can list yor jersey on your behalf :)

Any feedback on the site and processes we are running please feel free to get in touch.

Thanks
Johnathan

Hi Jonathan, my only comment looking at the site initially is its actually more expensive to list on your site than ebay, where you'll get a lot more global exposure. I understand you are trying to build a brand but with no products currently on site, people wont visit again. Maybe offering a lower rate for a month or so to get people onboard would be a good idea

This may sound harsh, it's just the way l am.

Some pages contain some very basic spelling errors. Your terms remove all responsibility on your part concerning the products your listing, so there is no protection that the game worn jersey is genuine. Ebay and the like don't market themselves as specialists, they simply list items, it's the buyer and sellers responsibility, I'm not expert in law, but by marketing your site as a specialist may make you vulnerable legally if you don't check an item as genuine.

As a Dragon would say, due to these twos factors, I'm out, but l wish you well.

Hi All,

The site was setup as an eBay alternative. I don't know statistics but I can see that jerseys are on this forum still haven't sold. The idea was to have the same terms as eBay. The terms were not written by me but are taken from shopify just for a bit of protection while I setup the site.

For me only die hard fans know how to get game worn or pre owned jerseys as they browse these forums etc (well this is how I got my first game worn) to by doing this site I am trying to attract the casual fan by using our niche hockey social media community to promote the jerseys.

A spell check would help I that's not excusable for a live site, but I am in now way perfect and spelling is my downfall.

The lowering rate is something I am doing but probably haven't got arround to fully advertising. The idea was to take no fees etc until I have enough products listed to make it viable.

I hope I have answered everyone's questions.

Electro you say you are out based upon terms but these are standard terms for any ecommerce site. Would you think I'm better to remove these then as they are off putting?

Also I am not stating that I am a specialist. If eBay or gumtree list an ungenuine item it's at the buyers/sellers discresition to check. It nice to have feedback from you Electro no point ignoring the bad points.

How would I get you back on board then :)

I would suggest you speak to an expert regarding terms, you may state your not a specialist, but as with the second hand car industry who state, for example "Timbucktwo trade centre", it's implying that your selling vehicles at trade prices or your trying to use the "Trade" terms to get out of standard terms and conditions under the goods act. I've heard one dealer state this as a reason why their responsibility was limited as he put it, cos I'm a trade seller.

So stating your Game Worn I'd want some security, depending on prices of the goods, £50 ish not so much, but if someone wanted to list a shirt that would be in the hundreds l wouldn't use you.

It's your kind of site that someone looking to rip off unsuspecting people might be tempted to use, it's less likely to happen on say NHL Auctions or Meigray. The later checks a shirts authenticity prior to sale. Sports memorabilia is a wash with fakes, it's a huge industry and one that is easy to loose money in.

You may want to ask WildthingJ74 for his input, he's got a very small collection and isn't at all addicted to shirt collecting.

I agree, as its something that will come back to bit me in the future when someone does start to complain when loosing £100's on a non genuine game worn, the whole basis of the game worn industry is based upon trust and no way you can stop this.... unless at club level they give all game worn a certificate as I have one directly from the Devils with no such thing.

The only saving grace is me in the middle which is kind of a good thing in a way as buyer will pass money to me and once shipped etc I pass money onto seller, so this could be a way to stop fakes as if buyer is not happy they just return the jersey I give refund etc (brief overview of what would happen) .

Any feedback from collectors is welcome, I just want somewhere for fans to get hold of their team jerseys and a central location for looking for such items.

Rant over.

Seems like a lot of admin for you in a very small market. I seem to have some point wound up Electro in a former life which I'm pretty pleased about considering I've only read about 2 of his/her posts and had the comment pointed out by a friend.
Good luck on your venture John I hope it works out I hope your time invested is worth it for you.
