Doug Christiansen: ‘The lack of high priced British players in Coventry and Cardiff has really increased their money available for imports. We have lost players to Cardiff and Coventry for more money than we were able to offer. They will have excellent imports.’

I'd imagine its true to say that we wouldn't have been able to afford the imports we have if we'd had Richie on the team. He's not really saying anything you couldn't work out logically. It's entirely possible Osaer has come cheaper than Lyle too.

I agree. Both Lyle and Richardson were commodity Brit players and therefore would have demanded a higher wage. With the 11th import rule being brought in and the departure of Lyle and Richardson, this has no doubt meant that we have more disposable income for imports.

I do wonder about the ‘more money we were able to offer’ remark though.
