Does anyone know when (if) the Blaze Panthers game will be reviewed?

It will be interesting to see if (as expected) they mostly get away with a slap on the wrist or the league show some metal and actually hand out the bans that are deserved.

Meyers match penalty for his blindside on Jaegar, this will also be further reviewed.

Penner two games plus further review.

Dave Graham 3 game for failing to control his bench.

Seems pretty bang on to me so far in fairness.

"Dave Graham 3 game for failing to control his bench."

So the bench coach and not the team coach take the three games ?

I'm assuming that they can just bring in someone else to run the bench while this is in force ? So no real penalty ?

No difference if it happened to us. Neil would take the penalty as he signs the game sheet as being in charge of the benchetc. They would need a quailfield replcament on the bench now.
Back in the old days some teams used to get statisticians or stickboys to sign the sheet as the bench coach etc!!

So nothing for Corey then for being 3rd man in and taking the linesman out?

Meyers should get at least 2 games - the same as Sawyer.

They will ban Meyers as a token gesture knowing hes out injured anyway and probably let Penner off even though he left the penalty box to run amock.
Any ban for Meyers would be pretty worthless as they wont carry it over til after he is fit.
I did have to laugh though at the way Sladok battered him the next night. If he is going to talk the talk...

The most they could give him for thta would be game. so at present there wouldnt be much point. Will just have to chalk that down to a poor desicion on the night

Got to be said that if nothing else the incident got some publicity for the Blaze

"The footage on Youtube saw a staggering 30,000 views on Sunday with the club receiving a 300% increase in 'friend requests' from Facebook.

The club's own website, www.coventryblaze.co.uk also saw a massive 200% increase on page views and 100% increase on visitors with over 9,000 page views on Saturday & Sunday alone!

Which is why id like to see one at the tent haha. I know it doesnt put pucks in the net or help us play any better but it is greatly entertaining when it happens out of genuine frustration in a really gritty nasty game like in Cov. Though they both lost their games after that, the publicity gained from it is hard to ignore haha

And no Cruickshank for the Blaze games. :? :D

For anyone who hasn't seen the YouTube footage, here's a summary of the action at the Sky Dome from a poster on the Cage (Disclaimer: any biases are courtesy of the Panthers fan!):

"The atmosphere was electric and the way the game was going it was only going to be a matter of time before things got out of hand.
Before I review the actual brawl I first want to look into the reasons for the brawl, because I believe there are more than just the one clear cut reason that are being spouted on various websites and forums.
One of the comments that Dave Simms makes on the commentary of one of the videos is that Darnell and the linesmen had this coming, although I also think that both Coventry and Nottingham have themselves to blame in there too, and this is the first reason for the brawl. Darnell tried to let the game flow which is fair enough, but he should have protected Jaeger a lot better than he did. It was his reluctance to make calls over the cheap shots on the Blaze goalie that was the first reason of this brawl.
The second reason in my opinion is Jason Robinson, Brad Cruikshank or anyone else's reluctance to help out their goalie, Penner x3 and Myers once made contact with the goalie and it was not just unlucky coincidence that they collided, not all four of them anyway. Someone should have stood up for the goalie better than they did. Fair enough Zanon and Lee jumped on Penner while he was on the floor but all it would have taken would have been for Robinson, Cruikshank or anyone to just offer the fight to Penner, there's no way he'd have turned one down, and it probably would have ended there, however they didn't seem like they were interested at first to help out Jaeger.
The third reason is Nottingham's game plan. Obviously Jaeger went off injured and he was a target for the Panthers team. No surprise there, most goalies are targets in the game, whether it be through taunting them about the goal you've just scored or you're going to score, chirping at them and trash talking, standing in front of him to put him off or making contact with him. But Panthers endless attack on Jaeger was obvious, and the fact that they were just allowed to continue made them do exactly that, continue. But at some point they must have known that something or someone was going to snap and retaliation was going to take place, and it did, in a big way!!
The fourth reason is the linesman escorting Cruikshank off the ice. Now I know that they don't usually drag players off the ice, that will only aggravate the player and possibly the situation, but a player like Cruikshank, who is known to be a fairly volatile player at the best of times, should be 'looked after' a lot better than being behind him. I'm not a referee or a linesman but I am pretty certain that if they are escorting a player to the penalty box or off the ice they are supposed to be between the player they are escorting and anyone else. Now I know this means that they would need 4 refs to 'box' the player in but in this instance it wouldn't have been hard to just skate to the side of Cruikshank, between him and the ice, basically keeping him tight to the boards. That way Cruikshank couldn't have bolted left to Kowalski, he could have only stopped or put the burners on to go past the linesmen, but in that position the lino should be able to react quick enough to restrain him.
The league and officials know the type of player Cruikshank is, he's had previous issues of flying off on one, whether being told to do it or not. He was the reason for the near brawl at the Playoff Final between Panthers v Steelers, and he was involved in the fight at the end of the Blaze v Devils game where he beat up Mark Richardson. With that in mind they should have watched him a lot more closely. Especially as he had just completely lost his cool and flipped out at the ref for a 2 minute minor penalty call that Darnell had evened up by sending Levers to the box with him. He is an extremely emotional and volatile person, whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, and even if you are his biggest fan, you have to agree. It's not a criticism, it's just the way he is and the way he plays.

Those are the four main reasons for the brawl in my opinion and I believe that all four played a part, rather than just the one. Obviously the rivalry between the two teams and the war of words between the coaches, players and fans in the past is another big part. It was only going to continue to get worse and worse until it reaches boiling point and then it erupts, and it just so happened that it did erupt on this day, Saturday 4th December 2010.

Right, now that is done, onto the violence!!

Panthers break out of their zone with Levers on the puck entering the Blaze zone. Cruikshank puts his stick across Levers's mid drift and Levers goes down. Darnell calls the penalties as Cruikshank 2 minute minor for hooking and Levers 2 minute minor for unsportsmanlike conduct (diving). Both players go to the penalty box and Darnell speaks to the time keepers bench. While he is doing this Cruikshank must say or do something because Darnell gives him his marching orders with a match penalty for obscene gestures.
As he is being led off the ice he darts past the linesman and makes a move towards Kowalski, however, he stops for a split second, when I saw this I initially thought that he was just trying to scare the Panthers keeper, looking back now knowing what happened I simply believe he had second thoughts for a second before deciding he was going to do it. After the slight pause he skates straight at Kowalski and that is where the brawl starts. As he gets close to Kowalski, the Panthers keeper ducks down and submarines the Blaze player straight over the top of him. He gets up and the two guys come together. Immediately all the players on the ice rush from the Coventry defensive zone, where the face off was due to be, to the Panthers defensive zone to get involved in what was going on. While this is going on the Panthers bench jumps on the ice, quickly followed by the Blaze team. Lepine is one of the first Panthers players on the ice and he skates straight over towards Jaeger to try and get at him, a bit of a retribution type attack after Cruikshank’s, but Jason Robinson comes across and cuts him off before anything can happen there.
Penner and Levers both leave the penalty box to fight and pair off with Blaze players. Penner tries to get straight at Cruikshank but Brian Lee manages to get between them but unfortunately Penner is in no mood to just have a chat and they proceed to start fighting. Steven Lee and Robert Farmer start fighting and Kowalski and Cruikshank are finally split up after their little tilt. Cruikshank is then finally escorted off the ice as the brawl continues.
When Steven Lee finishes with Farmer he skates off and Farmer pairs up with Danny Meyers and the two of them can be seen throwing punches by the Blaze bench.
Jaeger skates the length of the ice to get involved in the main brawl, but doesn't really get into a fight as much as just pairing off with people. Lepine and Robinson gave the fans down towards the Blaze end something to watch as they squared off with each other at the Blaze's defensive blue line. After this fight the ref and linesmen sent them both to the penalty box and Jaeger then skates over to the Panthers penalty box and motions to Lepine to come out and fight him. Lepine leans out of the box and pulls Jaegers helmet off and then starts to adjust his elbow pads and sleeves and looks like he is going to come out of the box, whilst looking slightly bemused at the same time to be honest, but the linesmen comes across to Lepine and Danny Meyers steams in and hits Jaeger. Weaver then grabs hold of Meyers and another scrum around the Blaze goalie occurs. With a bit more pushing and shoving going on down in the Blaze end, Penner and Lee who have been left behind the Panthers goal begin to fight again after they had ran out of gas. When Penner had put Lee down to the ice Neilson came over and told him to leave it and he lets go of Lee and skates over to meet with the crowd who were skating back up the ice. Penner, with his shirt trailing behind him still attached to his fight strap treads on his shirt and falls to the ice, which was pretty funny, before getting back up and looking to try and get at Jaeger through the crowd before Neilson stops him and the two team’s captains try to restore peace to their teams.
After a few seconds, and with Penner being escorted to the Panthers bench, both sets of teams begin the mammoth task of trying to sort out which sticks, gloves, helmets, teeth etc etc belong to who. Then both sets of teams leave the ice and retire to the locker rooms before the refs leave for their changing room and the announcement that the ref has abandoned the game for "5 minutes" was made. The 5 minutes delay was the most ambitious estimate I've ever heard, especially as it eventually took around 20-30 mins before the teams were back on the ice!!

Penalties were as follows:

Cruikshank - 2 minutes for hooking, match penalty for obscene gestures & another match penalty for excessive roughness
Jaeger - 2+match for leaving the crease
Robinson - 5 minutes for fighting
Lee - 5 minutes for fighting

Panthers Bench - Match penalty for failing to control their players (first team to clear their benches)
Penner - 2+game for leaving the penalty box, Match penalty for excessive roughness
Levers 2 minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct (diving)
Lepine - 5 minutes for fighting & Match penalty for excessive roughness.

Lepine and Jaeger both had their match penalties reduced. Lepine's was reduced to just a 5 minute major for fighting, and Jaeger's penalty was reduced to 2+Game for leaving the crease."

"Meyers has a dislocated shoulder and will not play until the new year anyway."

Anyone know how that works with relation to the Ban ?

Are games missed due to injury ( from another fight  ) taken into account or is it seven games once fit ?

7 games from now, you cant prove conclusively when he is fit or not.

The fall out on the Panther's forum is just simply hilarious. You wouldn't believe how hard done by they think they are. They think Coventry run the league. It's great to see another club freaking out over suspensions, especially the Panties. Brilliant.
