Quick one as I can't remember. Who was centring the Deeds and Maxi line?
Davies

1st line Hill Faulkner Blight
2nd line Max Davies Deeds
3rd line Harding Piggott Mckenzie
I really liked the 2nd line last night. Max and Ben linked up extremely well and Deeds just went around annoying blaze players and making space for them. Will be interesting to see what happens when Stu arrives but I would expect him to replace Ben on that line which is a bit of a shame. I wonder whether G would consider putting Stu on the 3rd to try and bring the best out of Harding/Piggott and Mckenzie?

GENTING Casino Coventry Blaze coach Paul Thompson has asked the Rapid Solicitors Elite League to look into the hit which left Jerramie Domish with a broken nose and concussion.

The American defenceman, 33, sustained the injury after a hit by Max Birbraer during the second period of Wednesday night’s 2-1 defeat at Cardiff Devils in a pre-season challenge match.

The incident came on the day the Elite League appointed 18-year official Simon Kirkham as their new head of discipline for the 2012/13 campaign.

Thompson, who was pleased with his side’s first work-out, said: "I have asked the league to have a look at it.

"The clubs received an email from the league about hits to the head and this was a perfect example.

"We will see how the league react because I have got an injured player right now and I am very disappointed."

Is a friendly game between 2 sides anything to do with the league?

Will be an interesting Area. There was an EIHL ref present so I guess it has to be, although there were no score results or anything on the EIHL website. I would not have thought Tommy Watkins was a registered player either, I guess if Tom Watkins wasnt registered we could tit for tat and say the blazw played someone who wasnt registered which could get quite serious.

On the flip side I guess the league may look and say give Birbrear a ban for next Wednesday just so the torch paper isnt lit in a friendly game. I think that would be a happy compromise

It is an elite sanctioned game and Watkins is registered as a two way player.

Unless the procedure has changed it was not asked to be looked at to the officials last night so unless he is just asking for clarification of what is a high is then not a lot I can see happening..Nothing I can see will change the opinion of who checked it last night.

Surely we have all been watching hockey long enough to know that injury doesnt equal illegal/bad/dangerous hit ????

Think this is grasping at straws - I have watched and re watched it and can see nothing wrong .....be very dissapointed if something does come from this but not surprised.

Well this has started earlier than normal this year.

When was the last time G or anyone else on the Devils Management asked the league to review something? Also, will the Blaze have to pay for the review? If we are not careful Ice Hockey in this country will go the way of football.

I've also watched the clip numerous times... I honestly can't see what he's done wrong! Domish was skating with his head down, that's what's caused his injuries... Not an illegal hit!!!
If they punish this it'll make the league a farce imho :DWD

if they do ban it, i think they will lose fans, i am really annoyed at this, no longer aloud to hit people. will just make this league more of a joke

If this results in a ban for Maxi, the sport will lose fans, me for one. I've seen a hell of a lot worse that that! Remember last season when Tait took a swing, with his stick, at the ref?
If Domish hadn't of been injured we wouldn't be talking about the hit. Just a bit unfortunate for the 'beard'.

This league and it's governing body I trust, yeah right. I wait with baited breath for a verdict.

A few shifts before the hit I said to the people I was with that it would be good to see Max put in some big hits. I think he might have heard me :D

If previous seasons are anything to go by Max will get a 2 match ban which will start with the first game of the season. It will keep Simms happy and give the Steelers a helping hand towards a good start to the season.

That seems to be the standard procedure for this league. Big hit equals no call until the opposition jump the guy who made the hit. Then instead of just calling the roughing penalty for the guys jumping in the ref feels the need to call something for the hit. I always find it strange how the reaction of the other team can sway the decision of the ref.

Been around for years..rare to see it but first centre was thrown out and phill came in and took his time so was also thrown out and that is face off violation...

Panthers got called for it I think last year at the O. They were a player short and were wasting time as they couldn't get a line change

is there a certain time limit they have to reset or is it just the refs call, this happened a lot last year(steelers) eg people shouting at the lino to drop the puck after one has already been thrown out because the reset is taking to long for reasons such as momentum killer, icing calls and general moaning(finnerty) just wondering if there gonna be clamping down on it

If the league do anything about this I hope the club defend it vehemently, but I wouldn't hold my breath on that either
