Devils as holders of Challenge Cup begin the knockout stage by travelling to Dundee for the 1st Leg

Hopefully Stars fan Spaceman who helps us out when we are in Dundee will again come to our aid.

MNL will be covering the game thanks to Rachael & Baz who are making the long trip to Dundee.

Hopefully Spaceman will help us out yet again.

Yep, we always seem to struggle there for some reason. Both games this season up there we have had the majority of the play but the Stars are very tenacious and have speed on the break.

The keys to the game are to find a way past Lakosil, he seems to raise his game against us, I have been impressed and to stop affording Bobby Chaumont the freedom of DIA .... We don't seem to learn that he is lethal when given space.

I would be happy with a one goal game.

Lakosil is a tremendous goalie....hope our guys can get him moving and also force some re ounds to take chances.

Stars have Dickenson, Wetmore and Chaumont...all v dangerous. And Dundee are very quick on the breakaway. Hope we don't give them any time on the puck.

Worse case scenario- if Devils can keep it to a one goal deficit in that v difficult arena, they are in with a good chance in the 2nd leg.

No Salters or Russell for this match unfortunately. Leigh stayed home to get his health checked out so we still don't know how long he'll be out and Ryan didn't get a practice in with the team due to his equipment not making the flight from Amsterdam. Ryan and Lordo determined that it wouldn't be smart to jump in to such an important game without getting a single practice in.

Hopefully the other lads step up. I can feel CJ's point streak stretching to two games today!

LETS GO DEVILS.

Brilliant result tonight. I'd of taken a one goal deficit and been happy if it had been offered this afternoon.

Three goals up is superb.

Pretty well a perfect road win with a lot of attention to defensive play. I thought the Devils were better also on clearing the puck out of their end for the most part.

A nice shutout by Bowns with some timely saves but I think the Devils really restricted the number of real good scoring chances by Dundee.

Sounds like a fairly convincing win tonight although this is only the first half of the tie and the stars are a tough side, but we are in control of the tie now. Looks like the guys are gaining a belief and confidence in themselves and each other at just the right time, hopefully they can carry it on to the end of season.
