Again classless muppets.Want it both ways.I would have thought his contract when he signed was for the season and not until October.So gass him when it suits you and then stop him playing for somebody else only when it suits you?Something about wanting your cake and eating it springs to mind.

Hutchins now cleared to play against the Steelers tonight. Sounds like one of the Caps sponsors stumped up the cash to make it happen.

I assume that the Steelers gave him his two weeks notice, just less than two weeks ago?

If I'm right - then they probably paid him two weeks wages when they released him (i.e. they paid him for this weekends work).
In which case I can understand why the Steelers did it. Sounds like the Caps sponsors have re-embursed the Steelers for his wages for this week/weekend and so he can now play.
