Blaze v Devils - 23/03 @ 5:15pm - League - Chat/Updates

#23
Have to contrast the blindside high hit from Guthrie on Davies in the 1st that got 2 for interference with what happened between Myers and Guthrie at the death where there was limited contact and Guthrie seemed to loose an edge then span awkwardly face first into the plexi - even the Blaze commentators were struggling to see a problem and neither called a check to the head - even on replay!
Shite officiating is spoiling this league - Myers dreadfully unlucky to get that call.

Oh well crap end to a crap season. Cant say its all holywoods fault but in this game he's certainly played his part again. Bottled calling major on ginard for head shot in first, no call against olson for off the puck check against ben, no protection for ben throughout the game, kura stick to the head no call again but where were the linos? . Holywood didnt see myers check but amazingly last major play of the game and seemingly the linos did this time!!!. Myers didnt help himself or the team with his check but it just goes to show how inconsistent the stripeys are at calling things.

Let's be honest, we can blame the stripeys all we like but the truth is for many reasons we simply haven't been good enough this season and fully deserve the league position we've ended up in.

Great game for Kosowski, sorry for him he lost in that way.

Myers penalty was one of the softest majors I have seen. On the webcast it was shoulder to shoulder at best 4 feet away from the boards and Guthrie just lost an edge it appeared and went into the plexi with his face. Much worse happened throughout the game with no call from Darnell, looks like he called the injury not the offence. Killed the game.

Just sums up a crap season really :(

I didnt say it was all the stripeys fault but as its been said countless times they are so inconsistent in games it can or has had a bearing on that particular game, an tonights game is seeminy no different. At least 3/4 decisions called incorrectly tonight which if called correctly as per the rule book then it may have been a different result??. Throughout the season we probably havent helped our selves either be it the fiasco of pope/regan and their off ice antics so we probably got what we deserved.

Congratulations to Fife...what a battle they fought over the last few weeks and hit form at just the right time.

Easy to anaylise our season and apportion accountability off and on the ice. Think in reality many people will just be relieved our season from hell is over and players can go home.

Here's looking forward to Whis building and coaching his own team ready for a better season. Would be a fantasic boost to see our British players recommitted quickly.

Funny that we're now begging for FINNERTY and ADAMS to do us a favour now.

Karma!
No-one was BEGGING anyone for anything. We were where we are because we simply werent good enough. Some players signed by Pope and G were not good enough. ....simple.

This season was lost months ago not tonight. Those two meddling idiots who run this club have a lot to answer for.
Or they have saved us the usual pattern of getting to the playoffs - and coming back with nothing - - - again.

The season was lost months ago when Devils were in 8th position back in October. The team has had 3 coaches during that time and some team changes...but still couldn't get of 8th position. Why was that the case? Can't just point the finger of accountability at one or two people for that.

Looking forward to a team rebuild and a season of stability and consistency next year.

Sorry - 'saved' us from being at the POFW by handing us 9th? I'm hoping you missed a smiley off that one... Is this another example of how 'this year's stats are better than the last few years'?

Confused.

The £17 saved from the lack of playoff game can now be put towards the cost of an EOS season ticket before March 31st!

Watch the game on webcast last night. Thought the Devils lacked creativity in the final zone and the big game players went missing. Defensively the Devils played OK and your net-minder had a very good game, but forwards let you down. Too many silly penalties given up as well.

Well at least with Whistle in charge (If he's left lone to recruit and run things his way) the Devils will be a much better team next season....... Still think you would of made the play-offs had Adams been in charge all of this season.

Agree totally, also missing two goalscorers didn't help, it's been a lousy season and as someone already said what's goes around comes around. Not getting another home game where everyone would have had to pay got to cost the club around 27-30k at a guess,so that's revenue this club can I'll afford to lose. So the lousiest season ever has now finished, and in one way it hasn't come quick enough. Just hope the Sheffield Devils can lift the trophy now, it won't be more that what Gerad deserves.
