ENL Devils go into the weekend with a home game Sunday V Streatham Redskins. The Devils had a tough 2 game road journey last weekend and came away with 2 points despite having a very tough trip to the Island to face Jeremy Cornish and his very good Wightlink team but losing 6-2 and then onto Slough which is also a tough place to pick up a win but they got the 2 points with a 7-4 win.

Scorers from the weekend

Saturday: Seladk | Piggott

Sunday: Jones x3, Sedlak, Preece, Dixon, and Powell
We spoke to Luke Piggot about last weekend
“Last weekend we had double away fixtures, travelling to Isle of Wight and Slough respectively. With us having just over-taken the Wightlink Raiders the weekend before this became a huge 4 point game for us. “The Cube” on the island is never an easy place to play (where their ice pad is the same size as Cardiff’s winter wonderland) and we struggled to play our style of hockey right from the start and before long we were 4-0 down and without key defenseman Jason Stone as he was ejected for misconduct. Despite this we rallied together and pulled 2 goals back to put the game within our grasp at 4-2 before a series of silly penalties and mistakes ultimately led to our demise in the form of a 6-2 defeat. The 3rd period on the island was much better hockey and we decided that would be how we would carry over into Sunday’s game. This wasn’t to be the case and we fell victim to an old habit of ours where we lower our game to the opposition’s level and came in 2-0 down after the 1st period in Slough. Luckily the entire team identified themselves as underperforming and came out to dominate the rest of the game. We did just that and for the final 40mins of the weekend Slough could hardly cope with our hard-hitting and fast paced play to grind out a 7-4 win.

During both games we showed great fight to come back from being down but this weekend brings Streatham Redskins to the BBT and given their current form it is a game where we should not be coming from behind at any point. That said the ‘Skins always have a never say die attitude about them and with a fantastic set of travelling fans behind them it’s never a foregone conclusion in these games.”

This weekend see's the Devils only having one game this weekend which is at home. Streatham are always a mixed bag, you never know which team will turn up. At times they can be a very good team but then at times they can be poor as per stats below
