Devils Vs Steelers 19-10-12
The Devils travel to Sheffield this Friday for a must win Challenge cup game. The Devils sit in last place in the group with only 5 games left and need a win to get themselves back in some kind of contention for the next round of the cup.
After last weekend’s one and only game in Belfast, the Devils will be looking to get back to winning ways after a disappointing loss 6-3 at the Odyseey. The night started off well with an early goal from Tyson Marsh before Belfast responding with 4 unanswered goals before the 1st period ended. Devils pulled two quick goals back through Devin Didiomete and Phil Hill in the 2nd before the Giants finished the game off with two more goals. Coach Adams will surely be looking for a response from the whole team to get things back on track.
The Devils will be at full strength this weekend including new two way signing Rupert Quiney who will hopefully gain some ice time at the Motorpoint Arena and home to Nottingham this weekend.
Steelers newest signing Tom Sestito has made a quick impact for the Teal and Orange with some big goals including the opener v Belfast on Sunday in a 2-1 win. With recent news regards the NHL lockout coming to an end possibly, there's no guarantee that Sestito will be here much longer so not sure where the Steelers will go if he gets called back.
Steelers Coach Ryan Finnerty has also been impressed with Jason Hewitt of late with his new line pairing of Sestito and Goertzen. He had this to say
“I am not a fan of changing lines around for the sake of it,But we haven’t been scoring a lot of goals lately, barring the Braehead game, and I wanted to freshen things up. The Hewitt-Sestito-Goertzen line is a hard one to play against, they are physical, can skate have offensive skill and can fore-check."
“We’ll keep them together this weekend (Cardiff home, Friday, 7.30pm, Coventry, away, Saturday, 7pm, Hull, ice Sheffield, Sunday, 6pm) and see how things go.” Three games in three days is a tall order for a squad that is battered, bruised and likely to again be without defenceman Mark Thomas, who has had a scan on a rib injury."
If you can't make the game tomorrow, don't worry as we'll be running the "Ridiculously childish" and "disgustingly biased" Match Night Live service for this game, at the usual location of http://www.the-inferno.co.uk/mnl if you'd like to help out with texting updates we’d be happy to hear from you or if you'd like to chip in with some comments on the night please contact us at matchnightlive@gmail.com.
