Devils Double header

28th Feb 2013 | Posted by The Inferno

As we gear up to head to Belfast this weekend for the Devils double header we catch up with the Giants Captain Adam Keefe who gives us his take on last weekend’s game against the Devils, the upcoming weekend and the Giants chances of retaining the title.

The Inferno-  What did you make of tonight's game? Where do you think the games will be won next weekend?

Adam Keefe - Sundays game at the BBT was a good one, we knew Cardiff hadn’t played a game all week and would come out guns blazing and ready for us, they did exactly that. It took us awhile to get going but i think we stayed composed and knew there was a lot of time left to get back into the game. I think both goalies played well but we got a game saving save from Zemmer at the right time and newcomer Chad Langlais stepped up huge for us with a 4 pt game.

The Inferno -  So the last two seasons you've had an impressive record in the Big blue tent. What do you think it's down to? What do you think of the tent and Devils fans?

Adam Keefe - I think our record in Cardiff is strongly to do with being prepared for a war and ready to do whatever it takes to win in a hostile environment like the BBT, whether that be block shots, finish every hit or simply just staying disciplined. It takes a strong commitment by all players to stick to the game plan to win in that arena. Adam Keefe - 1

The arena itself is small in size which takes away a lot of time and space from players and the Devils  know that and use it to their advantage and feed off the intense atmosphere the fans provide

The Inferno -  Where do you feel the Devils lack?

Adam Keefe - I think the devils have suffered some setbacks with injuries and suspensions this season, they have always been a team that plays hard and competes, the struggle as with most teams is staying consistent throughout the course of an 8 month season. There isn’t much room for error in the EIHL with the league title being top of the league.

The Inferno - How do you see the Giants chances of retaining the title? What games are the ones which will decide the Giants fate?

Adam Keefe - I think our chances are still good, obviously we would love to be in a better position but we no longer can look at the big picture and have to focus on every single game, one game at a time we have to go 1-0. I think that has to be our mind-set moving forward, we can’t control what Nottingham will do down the stretch but we can control our last 8 games. We will have to much more consistent in this last month then we have been.

We'd like to thank Adam for taking the time out to speak to us in the run up to the weekend.

As always we’ll be running match night live so you can keep up with the game if you’re making the trip to Belfast at the usual location of http://www.the-inferno.co.uk/mnl if you'd like to help out by texting updates (we’d be happy to hear from you) or chip in with some comments on the night please contact us at matchnightlive@gmail.com.
