Cardiff Devils ENL Vs Chelmsford Chieftains

8th Sep 2011 | Posted by The Inferno

This weekend see’s the Cardiff Devils National League team start their Campaign against Last season’s playoff winners and League runners up the Chelmsford Chieftains.

The Devils have said goodbye to 7 players from last year’s roster and in an attempt to recruit a younger new look ENL outfit Head Coach Mark Cuddihy has replaced those 7 players with 8 new players, 3 from North American junior leagues, 2 from Premier league clubs and the return of a Devils Legend in Jason Stone as a Player/Assistant CoachStone ENL

Assistant coach from last year Ben Smith has been promoted to the position of Coach of the ENL 2 team the Cardiff Satans. To replace him up from the Satans comes former Cardiff Devil Lyndon Pezzack to join Cuddihy as assistant Coach and assistant team Manager.

So massive changes to the ENL team for the 2011/2012 opener against the Chieftains and also it seems big changes for the Chelmsford based club.

The Essex outfit have said goodbye to all their imports and recruited ex Super League Defenceman Dwayne Newman, Czech 2nd League forward Jakub Klima, British talent Conner Stokes, Alan Green, Tom Avery and GB international forward Gary Clarke as player coach. Add these guys to the already talented squad of young players and it’s no wonder that Chelmsford have started the season as favourites to clean up this season.

So what to expect, in the four games last season against between these two teams 2 of the games ended in a bench clearance, for that to happen again is doubtful but you can expect a talented group of players, one team with a premier League budget and names that go with that luxury against the unknown freshly picked talent of the ENL Devils.

Face Off is 7PM Sunday 11th September - Entry £5 Adults or £3 Adults with a season ticket and £3 Children.

DCF Kids and management free entry
