Blaze 6-2 Devils

31st Dec 2009 | Posted by The-Inferno

The Devils crashed to their 7th straight away loss on Sunday, losing to the Blaze 6-2.

After a brilliant performance on boxing day against the same team, the players that skated out on Sunday looked to have given up all hope of winning infront of a sellout crowd.

A massive traveling contingent for the Devils was left bitterly disappointed as the Devils seemed to ignore any of the tactics that had worked the previous night and instead focussed on not hitting anything that wore a Blaze shirt, instead it was left to the 1 man army that is Tylor Michel to actually throw some hits whilst the rest of our team skated into each other.

With the Blaze playing better hockey than the Devils, there was only 1 way the result was going to go...

Blaze took the lead just over 7 minutes into the 1st period when Dan Carlson was left unmarked by a non existant Devils defence. Despite a raft of penalties, the Blaze were ahead.

It was the Blaze who scored first again when the Devils decided that hitting anything wearing a Blaze shirt wasn't a good idea, with the whole team seeming to disappear the Blaze doubled their lead...

Blaze 2-0 Devils. Calder from Campbell and Cowley at 14:35.

Just over 1 minute later and the Blaze had tripled their lead, an error from Lyle saw Carlson grab his second goal of the evening.

Blaze 3-0 Devils. Carlson from ??? at 15:51.

The Devils managed to successfully call a timeout after the 3rd goal and held the Blaze for the remaining minutes, much to the amazement of the traveling contingent. Best hits of the 1st period were provided by the Devils own players, Finnerty nailed Voth and Hartwick managed to floor Adams... *sigh*

The second period started with the Devils sparking a mini comeback effort for 10 minutes, possibly fueled by embarrassment at being 3-0 down in the 1st infront of one of the largest traveling hordes the Devils are likely to see for the rest of the season.

Blaze 3-1 Devils. Smith from Michel at 23:47.

Just under 2 minutes later the Devils found the back of the net and with only 1 goal in it, proceded to give up.

Blaze 3-2 Devils. Jarvis from Smith and Birbraer at 25:32. PPG.

Shortly after the Devils 2nd goal, Adams took a puck to the face near the benches, Voth waded in for some bizarre reason and with Adams leaving the ice with blood pouring onto the ice, it was left to Voth to take a stupid penalty for an accidental event.

Blaze managed to get their 2 goal lead back when the Devils defence again went AWOL and Lyle was left high and dry, despite making 2 or 3 saves, the 4th wasn't cleared and the Blaze were firmly in the lead again...

Blaze 4-2 Devils. Fulghum at 32:06.

The second period ended with the Blaze having a commanding lead, with the loss of Adams the Blaze regained the upper hand whilst the Devils retreated.

Just 5minutes into the 3rd period and the Blaze were 3 goals ahead. Michel by this point had been rotated onto defence and was about the only player doing anything, unfortunately though 1 player cannot do it all...

Blaze 5-2 Devils. Calder from Chambers and Carlson at 45:02.

Towards the end of the game the Devils decides to start taking misconduct penalties, blaming referee Carson for their absolutely dismal performance. with the Blaze gifted a 5minute powerplay until the end of the game their final goal was long overdue.

Blaze 6-2 Devils. Allen at 59:21.

As if things couldn't get any worse, the Devils had to play the Panthers at the NIC on Wednesday...
