Belfast Giants v Cardiff Devils

21st Nov 2009 | Posted by The-Inferno

The Devils crashed to a 3-1 loss in Belfast on Saturday night.

The game was expected to be entertaining from the start with Belfast enforcer Sean McMorrow mentioning in the local press in Belfast that he expected Voth to make a stand and again fight him...

Unfortunately though, it was the Giants who came away the victors, grabbing their first goal only 29seconds into the 1st period as the Devils seemed to forget they were playing ice hockey... Jeff Swzez who was left unmarked managed to grab the second fastest goal of the season so far.

The Giants took a 2-0 lead at 10:58 again through Swzez just as a Devils penalty was coming to an end, but with the odd man Belfast always looked dangerous. With the first period ending with the Giants 2-0 up, Devils fans who had made the journey over were hoping the Devils would come out and make a stance in the 2nd.

Unfortunately it was the Giants who scored first again in the 3rd period at 31:29 to take a 3-0 lead through Colin Shields. The Devils did manage to get 1 goal back when Miller scored on a powerplay opportunity at 37:12, but it wasn't enough.

The 3rd period ended with no further goals with the final score being Giants 3-1 Devils.
