4 on 4 Road Trip comes to Cardiff
Four Nottingham Panthers fans will be embarking on a charity trip starting this Thursday where they will watch an ice hockey game in each country of the UK in just four days in order to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
The Big Blue Tent will be their second port of call to take in the Devils game against Edinburgh Capitals for the Welsh part of their challenge. Paul Balm, Jono Bullard, Adam Reddish & Steve Wright will start their journey, called the 4on4 Road Trip at the National Ice Centre at Midday on Thursday.
From there, the team will travel to Coventry to visit the Blaze before travelling to Cardiff to see the game against Edinburgh. Once the game has finished it's an overnight ferry to Ireland and a car journey to Belfast to see Giants take on Sheffield Steelers on Friday night.
Saturday sees another ferry trip to Scotland, where they will visit Dundee, Fife & Edinburgh rinks before taking in the evening game between Braehead Clan & Fife Flyers.
On Sunday they will travel back to Nottingham via Hull & Sheffield to complete the journey by attending Panthers game with Braehead Clan in the afternoon.
On the way they're hoping to collect memorabilia from as many clubs as possible for an online auction to be held after they return home. The project has already raised in excess of £2,300 for Cancer Research UK thanks to
donations from fans and an evening fundraiser with Danny Meyers & David Simms last month.
Companies have also been generous with corporate sponsorship for the team, Linear Developments, RHPS, Crazy Kenny's, AG Printing, Look Signs, Turnaround Productions, The Bunkers Hill Inn and Panthers owner Neil Black have
all been involved.
Team member Jono Bullard said -
"We've been absolutely blown away by the support we've received since we decided to do the 4on4 Road Trip from fans, clubs & companies, we couldn't have got where we are today without their help."
About the trip itself he said -
"It isn't going to be easy, but that's part of the challenge. We'll get very little sleep on Thursday night and we'll be travelling all around Scotland on Saturday so we're hoping for good weather and minimal roadworks! The main thing is that Cancer Research UK will benefit from our fundraising and that's why we've all put ourselves up for this challenge."
If you see them around the rink tomorrow night, please say hello and have a chat.
