Challenge Cup Final, I haven't been following it long enough to remember any of the other past great moments :S

I've been following from the start and the best hockey moment has to be the Wembly final shoot out! (I'm sure Tony Hand remembers it well too)

On a supporters moment - staying in Edinbrough the same time as Scotland were playing Ireland in Rugby - A night in the hotel bar with Wales Scotland and Ireland ( No English ) - priceless

And the supporters club trip to Canada!

Sooo many memories (God, I sound old):

Devs vs Nottingham (that game) - imagine the press release on a game like that nowadays :?
Challenge cup final (2006) - hundreds of silent Covo fans - priceless!

Hockeymum, I agree with you there! For me it is:-

1. The wembley win over Murrayfield Racers after overtime and penalty shots - the tension and nervousness replaced by pure euphoria, pure theatre!

2. Ken Hodge holding aloft the inaugural Superleague trophy in Gretzky's bar, a truly awesome centre and a Devils legend

3. Mike MacWilliam absolutely ragdolling Corey Beaulieu in Sheffield - what a battering he give him!!

4. Nicky Chinn's hat-trick in the Devils 5-0 demolition of Manchester Storm in the playoff semi-final en route to a final win over Nottingham.

5. Ian and Stephen Cooper and Steve Moria signing for Devils for our first season in top flight hockey.

6. Kirk DeWaele's huge hipcheck on Coventry's David Kaczowka that smeared him all over the WNIR plexiglass!!

I could go on and on, so would it not be a fab idea if we had a poll to vote for the best Devils moment, kind of like a top 100 that we see for tv programmes on channel 4, channel 5. That would be good fun and very interesting to see the result.

I'll get my coat!!

wow 11 seasons of hockey brings a lot of memories :D but the one that stands out the most was the challenge cup final against the blaze, the atmosphere was amazing and the game, well we all know how good the game was, rempels hat trick and Rejjie Stringer's winning goal that literally raised the roof and that was without our drums

the good old hockey days :D

There have been many very happy memories over the years, but for me the penalty shoot - out at Wembley has to be the best, but another was the trip to Tilburg Holland in 94 for the European cup there must have been over 500 Devils fans there and we beat all the odds to finish top of the group ahead of such teams like, Sokol Kiev (Ukraine) Torpedo Ust Kamenogorsk (Kazhakstan) and the Tiburg Trappers.

The most satisfying moment from that weekend was Stevie Lyle winning the best goalie of the tournament award at the ripe old age of 14, brilliant.....

Challenge Cup Final win over the Blaze! Even now when I watch the DVD, it still gives me goosebumps! Remps' hat-trick and Rejean Stringer's final penalty!

Mike Ware Testimonial when the Man himself, Ivan Matulik and Mike McWilliam came on in the second period as the Hanson Brothers

When Mike McWilliam 'mock' turtled as Vez went for him at the 'end of an era game!'

John Lawless climbing into the DJ booth at the same game!

The mass protest at the WNIR when we all got on the ice!

Would have to agree .... the silence in the rink when the penny dropped we had actually beaten them .... AWESOME !

That and us clearing up the rubbish we had left behind with blacks we had taken - always were a proud crew !!

For me its also queuing in the rain round the outside of the old rink to watch Deeside Dragons - who would have thought that !

Can I also add

A friend of mine wanted to go see his mate who played ice hockey for Ashfield Islanders play against the new team in Cardiff - we went to the WNIR , got there a bit late - standing room only.

Final score Ashfield Islanders 0 - Cardiff Devils 32

Ice Hockey is Cardiff was born- the legend continues!

Cardiff v Durham.

First time we played them at the WNIR in the 2nd Leg of the Norwich Union Cup. We'd lost the first leg the previous week in Durham 12-4.

Tickets were like golddust and I remember having to queue for an hour to get mine !

The rink was packed and Durham arrived late due to bad weather and their flight was diverted. good entertainment (for the ladies) during the wait when some of the Devils skated/danced around in nothing more that some undergarments !!!!!

The game finally kicked off at about 9.30pm and finished just after midnight.

Shannon gave Rob Forbes a kicking and we won 10-6.

In my opinion, that was the game the really announced us on the Ice Hockey scene in Britain and Durham didn't beat us again that season - we went on to win the League and Wembley Playoffs.

Priceless memories.

Has to be the Challenge Cup Final for me - to come back from 3-0 down in the 1st leg against one of our main rivals was amazing. Fantastic night afterwards as well!

A few stand out for me:

The 5-0 win over Manchester in the play-off semi-final
Drawing 6-6 in Sheffield in the last season before Superleague

But the best is beating Sheffield 3-2 in overtime on Boxing Day, 1996 (first Superleague season). We drove up early for an afternoon face-off to see Steve Thornton get all 3 goals against them. I was so excited I tried to climb the glass to get on the ice, but was pulled down by a steward!

Playing on Holland in the Europa Cup and going through to the next round. Steve Lyle was a 15 year old munchin and had to step in as goalie.

Winning the Autumn cup final after gaining promotion and beating the 'invincible' Durham Wasps

Playing the same Durham Wasps at home after they decided to fly to Cardiff, hit bad weather, flew into Birmingham, coach to Cardiff. The bar ran out of drink so people were allowed to leave the rink to go across the road to the pub. The 6.00 game eventually started at 9.00 and finished around midnight. Of course it wouldnt happen now, especially if it were Sheffield as it would be bound to affect their civil liberties (and sensitivities)
