Gutted for Josh Batch- he has been a casualty of the 28 to 23 cut by Peter Russell. The young dynamo that is Jack Prince has also been dropped. Unbelievable. Never mind Guys - battle hard for the next rounds sellection rounds.

Hard to understand why Russell would hold on to creaking veterans like Jonathan Weaver....Brendan Brooks who is virtually a dual national. Never going to move Team GB forward without injecting new young players into the fold.

Something special just happened in Belfast.

Congratulations Team GB for winning gold and, after 4 seasons, promotion to Div1 Pool A. Fantastic game against Japan.

Russell believed the veteran and dual national selections would provide the additonal support and leadership to realise their target - he was right.

A fantastic achievement. Well done, Boys.

What a fantastic result, well done Mathew, so proud of you and the team tonight. Have been sharing the moment here in N.Ireland with fantastic fans from many different clubs, genuine fans who just want to see us progress as a nation. Sadly due to the set up of the EIHL, we will probably never get the just rewards from government funding that other less attended, less important ( in my view ) sports get year on year. Great craic here and hope we can host such an event in the near future.

Bowns was in net for the shutout in the final Gold medal game and Myers scored two of the four goals in that game. It is important we sign both those players up quickly for next season
