“Lost the locker room”
‍♂️‍♂️‍♂️

So when we beat Belfast 2 days ago, had he lost the locker room then or just when we lose?

Honestly I’m just as pissed off as the next fan at any loss but some of the shite people spout on here after we get beat is comical.

That’s enough for tonight.

Night all
Friday nights game is easily explained. We’d just taken a hammering against the Panthers and clearly someone had given the players a bollocking…. Whether that was the coach, Kelman or the owners, someone had.

If PR is telling the players to work hard, hit (I’m sceptical) etc and they’re not listening then what other explanation is there? It’s either that the dressing room is gone or we have 20 bad eggs in there…

There’s no excuse for playing without professional pride, I completely agree. But, just like in every sport in the world the buck stops with the person in charge.

I thought taz would've started tonight and rest bowns in case we don't see mac again this season ..think taz had a 6 nil shutout there last time up there.
Yeah he did, plus his save % was above Bowns for the Manchester games. When you take that into account some strange decisions being made as you would also have expected Bowns to be rested with Playoffs coming up, with Carruth being in doubt for them as it would have given an opportunity for Taz to have some game time and hopefully confidence growth just incase he is needed for the playoffs.

There’s only one trophy left to drag back a shit season, so what do we do, we have more injuries so do we go all out in a dead rubber, and chance getting more, or do we get this game out of the way and try to keep who we have. Yes there is a lot to say about getting on a roll, but we couldn’t get on a bread roll at the moment, so why have we so many injuries, is it a jinx or too many cry babies. Fortunately this seasons done for me, it’s now about the rumours who will come, who will go, and who will return, and unfortunately that’s about as exciting as it gets for me.

Or is it some thing to do with the Strength and Conditioning training this season? And I am not saying that with any knowledge whatsoever, it just seems bizarre the amount of injuries we have had and the time it is taking for recovery. Is this something we need to look into next season with maybe changing up some of the ways our players Train, Diet/Nutrition, Mentally prepare and Physical Preparation on the ice or in the gym? Something just seems to be going very wrong from a health and conditioning perspective.

Let's be fair we are 2 D down from Friday Batch benched last 3 games I believe, is he gonna put a lot of effort in to help out tonight, I doubt it .
If he wants to secure his place for the playoffs then yes. If he wants to be benched again then no. I would hope he wants to be playing so would give it his all. Like any of the players, however, some are clearly not doing that.

Ohhhhhh, Pete, not AGAIN !!!!!!!

What’s the excuse this time? Bit too sunny on the way up in the bus so the players can’t see? Water a little too cold in the changing room? Boys are exhausted? Small ice, like none of our players have played on smaller ice since birth? Climate change? Trump?

Absolutely shocking!
There won't be an excuse from him. If you have noticed, the last few losses he hasn't given any interview. However, when we have a win he is all to happy. He needs to take responsibility and us supporters need some answers and some feedback when we lose. Obviously we all know it isn't always going to go our way and we can handle that, but, we need to know the coach has a plan going forward and recognises the faults of the game. Otherwise, it just looks like we have no idea going forward.

I didn't see the game and I'm probably right here , we went down 3 nil in the first period, did PR call a timeout , I will say no.... why ? Other coaches do it when struggling especially going 3 down so early in the game.

Pete's last EIHL club was Glasgow, and in his roster he brought back Zach Fitzgerald to the club and made him captain, and also signed Brendan Connolly and Josh Gratton. The season before that in MK he signed Matt Nickerson, and also a few others who racked up penalty minutes.

So I don't for one second believe he is against physical play at all. You could even argue that he is an old school coach who has so far struggled to adapt to the more modern game. He understands, unlike many fans, that hockey is never going back to the days of Matt Nickerson, and is trying to move his game forward. After all, the championship sides of Sheffield and Belfast over recent years have not been physical sides. I'm sure Pete has learnt a lot himself this year and hopefully come next season these lessons will help us.

Calm down dear.

You asked “So if PR is in the locker room saying, “go out and play physical, hit hard, battle hard and go to the dirty areas,” then the players go out and play like that, who’s that on the players or the coach?”

I offered you a possible explanation. Clearly you didn’t agree with that. Unless you’re a player on the team, you won’t know whether the “lost the locker” room is true or not. In just a theory. It doesn’t make it “shite”. It makes it something you don’t agree with.

Keep it classy.

You do seem very “pissed off”.

Dead rubber or meaningless, absolutely no excuses for easing off or not trying.
Will they do this in the home game this weekend in front of a large crowd? Fans are paying hard earned money for a battling, hardworking team win or lose. Pride and entertainment are also important. No soft options here.

The performances are lack lustre and inconsistent, the on ice product is boring..but atleast a player has been suspended to save face on the 'family sport' side of things and a lot of merch and theme jerseys have been sold throughout the season . I'd love to the sport go back to what it was where the thing that drew people back week after week was the excitement in the way the game was played. With the format of the playoffs anything could happen depends how they perform on the days of the games and this team has pulled some good games out of the bag but been very inconsistent.

This result has annoyed me as much as the Belfast result delighted me!
The Belfast game wasn't just about personal pride or avoiding a whitewash, it had implications at the top of the table.
The Manchester game may have meant nothing to us, but it meant a lot to the bottom of the table. Until all positions are finalized, respect the integrity of the league! I'd be fuming if I was a Dundee fan, especially if Manchester sneak into 8th on regulation wins!

Just to add: I didn't watch the game. Manchester are fighting for play-off survival and our position is pretty much set. Maybe we were always destined to lose. It's just not a good look.

Probably an unpopular thought but what exactly is Matthew Myers bringing to the bench ?

Being a brilliant player doesn't always translate into a good coach .

I genuinely don't know the answer but thought I would throw it out there.

Welsh, Devils DNA, calm temperament, wants to stay in the game. Presumably as a rookie coaching staff member, unlikely to be on a high wage?

A few days earlier we made Giants look ordinary!
There is no sense to it is there?
No there’s certainly no sense to it whatsoever, when the finest brains in Cardiff can’t fathom it ,even Alexa don’t have a clue. So it looks like we have always been a 4th position team, and that’s exactly where we are 4th.

I don’t think we’ve recruited badly.

Shinkaruk looked outstanding start of the season, no one could have predicted we’d be without him for most of it.
Duke has been out for weeks now. Middle of the season we were at least 5 imports out most weeks.

I think it’s unfair to blame Russel and the team he’s put together when he’s only had that full team available for a handful of weeks this year.

It’s frustrating getting beat tonight I get it but players have to take responsibility tonight I think.
Last I counted we had 13 players over the age of 30 and a lot of those are well over 30. We've got a bunch of players who are 34,35, 36 etc.

Players can & do play well into their 30s, Ovechkin is still playing at the top of the NHL and he's around 37/38. However some performance drop off is inevitable. So having an ageing core of players means the team will struggle when up against younger, faster, sharper teams. Just on injuries alone, players in their 30s are more prone to injuries and take longer to recover.

Going forward the Devils need to recruit a younger team.
