Yeah sorry I meant over the whole season rather than last night. Apart from Dixon we’ve struggled at face offs
It's interesting, isn't it - particularly as in the past it has been a strength for the devils.

I suspect that skalde already knows what he wants to do to improve in the summer. It's obvious though that we need to take some pressure off Dixon. Losing Myers clearly didn't help us in the face off circles. Hopefully the roster rules will change for next season, and we can recruit for certain roles and run a proper 4 line system. That would take pressure off Ben Davies and allow him to focus on the tenacious game he specialises in.

A slight problem is that our win helps Giants.
Clan win over Steelers helps Giants
Our loss v Dundee helps Giants
Giants are catching up rapidly on Sheffield.

And well done on a great Devils penalty shootout win yesterday. Bring on Wednesday. It is going to be a powerful game.

In commentary he mentioned Dixon being around +120odd in face off stats but all our other centers were in the minus. Haven't checked this but as someone said earlier, it's something you would want to address but how do you do that without changing personnel.
Our three centres at the moment are guys you want back. Dixon is ageing but going on this season so far he's got more left if he wants it. Coughler is a no brainer, and Ben Davies, being a brit is the same.
Josh Lammon has become the forgotten man which is a shame for him as he was hitting some form before his injury, and was good in the dot also.

Just had a look out of curiosity and what a signing Scott Conway has been. Top of the points stats and is a mindboggling 567 face offs won v 348 lost.
Nice to have your first line start with the puck so often!!!

Just checked and Dixon has won 130 more than he has lost which is a decent effort, Brodie Dupont and Trevor Cox are marginally up on face offs won/lost (as was Lammon) but there really isn't the back up to Dixon if he is not on the ice

Yeah i assume Skalde doesn’t want to lose Dixon or Coughler. Davies is a good brit so I can’t see him going anywhere and Lammon was looking good before his injury so there’s every chance he might back. I just think apart from Dixon we’ve been slightly weak at face offs all season. I think Ben is about 43% wins and Coughler is 48%. If you compare that to Belfast and Sheffield well Belfast have got the best face off guy in the league in Conway, and Doggett, Soy and Lake are all over 50%. For Sheffield, Hodgman and Armstrong are very good and let’s not forget they were unfortunate to lose Oleksuk early on and he was great at face offs. It’s definitely an area that needs looking at in my opinion.

There's a lot of bad stuff that could be said about the Steelers off ice management, but their highlights package is absolutely first class. Puts ours to shame.

A few giving Register stick yesterday but you have to take the rough with the smooth. A lot more often than not he makes the right play, and is capable of some magic. That was a bad giveaway in the 1st, but a superb pass to tie the game. Without his pass we leave Sheffield with 0 points.

Firstly Steelers webcast is second to none, secondly if Register didn’t make any mistakes with his talent, he wouldn’t be in this league. Remember this is the EIHL players who don’t make mistakes wouldn’t be here, far from it.

Yes, quality highlights package 21 minutes when including coaches reaction. Devils highlights are usually less than half that length.

First class highlights package. The commentator is obviously a Steelers fan but he comes across as impartial as he can. He does such a good job.
The interviews are interesting. They seem to forget that we played a road game. Even watching live I felt we were doing well. We were never going to outshoot them in their own place. Fox was frustrated they didn't close it out which I understand being in the last minute but we rattled the iron so many times during the game. Traversa's goal was a fluke. Nothing more. We got outshot and outplayed as much as an away team should and as much as any away team would with a top of the league team. We played a great road game and we need one more on Wednesday.

Did Jonathan Fearnley (the Steelers commentator) used to work for Hull Stingrays? Or was he a hull fan? Or am I making that up? I swear he used to have a connection with Hull before Sheffield
