Interesting events over in Angers.

Reid Duke, late of this parish, has signed for them which seems like a decent move for all concerned. The only problem is that les Ducs haven't been given a licence by the French ice hockey federation yet.

The system works differently in France, each club submits their budget and business plan each year and has to get it approved. Angers have been operating at a loss for the last two years (as have Briancon) and the federation aren't happy with their current one and have provisionally relegated them to France3 (so NIHL2 level).

So depending on the appeal, Duke might be facing Grenoble or a succession of village teams

Interesting, Cody Donahey got out just at the right time it seems. Duke would do very well there - even better against village teams!

If the EIHL operated the same way the Scottish teams, ourselves, Flames and Blaze would all need to show a sustainable business plan.

I like the approach as it does create certainty for the league and also gives the governing body teeth, although as a fan, it's worrying. Lyon Lions were demoted to France4 some years ago, despite being the cup winners so I do worry about how successful Les Ducs will be with their appeal.

Steelers sign what looks like a very good signing in forward Adam Rockwood, he comes with a very good pedigree, 30yrs old 5ft 10in. He looks like a tidy player.
