Rumours & Offseason Nonsense 2026/27

Is Caron an actual rumour, or just spitballing? I haven't seen anything about it other than on here. Size and age (25) make him an attractive possible replacement for Lacroix to my mind.

Caron played 3 years at Manitoba Moose with Jimmy Oligny and from what's been said on the podcast this summer, Jimmy may well be having some input. If Jimmy does rate him, he'll definitely have potential.

Over on the Cage speculation that Cole Sanford has signed for them. And Riley Brandt on the move from Cardiff.:(

Would be a shame if we can't match what brandt is being offered at flames especially as he had a cracking Stella season with us just gone . His goals and toughness will be missed big time..let's hope its only a rumour .

I'd imagine the question with Brandt would be - where are we pencilling him in on the lines to offer him suitable wages?

Brandt averaged 4 and a bit goals with us over his first 3 and a half seasons. 4th liner, moved up to 3rd if short. Physical guy who is popular with the fans. With the greatest respect to him - he's almost certainly our lowest earning import.

Then this past season he scores 18 goals. He's playing on the 3rd line with some moves up to the 2nd.

So what do you offer him this season? 4th line wages? 3rd line wages? 2nd line wages?

If - as the rumours suggest - Guildford have offered him 1st/2nd line wages - can we really argue that we can too? When our biggest problem the season just gone was goals.
If we offer him a payrise and 3rd line wages and he hits 18 goals again then great. The gamble paid off. But if he doesn't replicate that goal scoring then have we overspent? And that's just a slight payrise. Guildford are rumoured to be offering him even more.

If he stays great. He had a great season and I'd love to see him replicate it. But hockey careers are short and if a team are offering him big wages after last season then good luck to him.
Except against us obviously.

Myself I can’t see Brandt going anywhere, and can’t see Devils losing him, players like Brandt who play for the shirt and play for their club in the way he does don’t then bugger off somewhere else. Yes people will say but it’s about money, but A devils won’t want to lose him, and B he won’t want to leave Cardiff so myself he will be announced soon as staying.

i think brandt had a cracking season , i think he is better than a 4th line player , and if more money comes in for him and guarantied 3rd 2nd line hockey , you cant blame him moving if it happens , for him to stay on 4th line would be disheartening. he gave it all for the shirt. tommo showed him the player he can be . nobody would what to go backwoods

Think it would be a,backward step for him going there just an average mid table team , but if he can squeeze more money from flames and play in a leisure centre with an average team let him carry on . Think he will regret it tbh

Can't see how it would be a backward step. He's the type of player that would fit Guildford's style perfectly, and he could have regular 2nd line minutes. We'll never know about the money aspect but that could be a factor for him also. If all those things are on the table then it would be a good move for him.
