Rumours & Offseason Nonsense 2026/27

Is this 1 of thommos ex players that he wanted last season.
Thelin is the forward that was 'widely rumoured'* to sign for us last summer but who opted to stay in Odense. He was brought to Odense by Thommo after a season in Slovakia with Dukla, where he iced with Phil Pietroneiro...brother of Chad.

*When we announced Thommo speculation linked us with the top players from Odense, of which only Estes joined. 'Widely' might be a stretch as I think I was the only one pushing the rumour we would sign Thelin, which lead to people joining dots that the deal fell through and we signed Kontos instead.

Thanks for the info , well if we sign thelin imagine having kontos back as well, thelin 29pts last season from 47 games, so who goes, , thats if he's coming to us as destination unknown. Should imagine mcdonald or sanford who may have had better offers elsewhere, who knows ,

Admittedly Thelin didn't have a great season last year. If we are going to refresh our Top 6 he could be a possible signing

Not the greatest regular season from Thelin last year, but it looks like he found his goalscoring touch for the playoffs.
It's certainly more than a random guess as to who we would target.

IIRC one of the reasons why we thought he might not sign last season was because we were already full of right-wing goalscorers?
I can't remember what it was - but something in Sanford's interview in the podcast made me think he might not be returning after the summer.
Possibly his replacement?

16 regular season goals or whatever it was in an average Odense team is still pretty decent. If there’s anyone that can bring the best out of Thelin, it’s Thommo. We’ve long needed a big 6’4 winger who can score goals and I like Scandinavian players too. He would be a good signing if we can get him

Thomas Caron as a Devil anyone??
Got another year on his contract doesn't he?

That being said he can obviously play and skate if he's in Liiga. For someone with AHL experience I'd expect better point production at ECHL level ...which if his game isn't about points then he's a third or 4th liner and we don't need them IMO.

Looks like a perfect Thommo player. Tough as nails, sticks up for his teammates and is defensively responsible. Oh, he also hits like a truck. I can see it.
Hi mate quick question do you know this guy, how is he as tough as nails, and sticks up for his players, can’t find anything on YouTube. Have you seen him play he seems very average to me, but obviously I can be very wrong.

I haven’t watched much of him, but did see him in some ECHL highlights last season, for Allen Americans.
Some of his fight videos are on hockey fights.com (which will link to the YouTube clips)

1 in particular that I watched (through an Instagram reel) showed him stepping in for a teammate.

Here’s his press release when he signed for Allen https://allenamericans.com/news/2025/07/americans-sign-top-line-forward

I think his stats are misleading and you don’t play in the top league in Finland if you can’t skate. My fear would be that he’s a replacement for Brandt, but could just as easily be the Lacroix replacement.

Would be lacroix or caponi maybe, hopefully brandt be around for a testimonial. Though be gutted if caponi went, skated through brick walls last season and didnt batter an eyelid, lacroix up and down season went missing on times upped his game in the bigger games , rather keep brandt and caponi . With Allen being touted and with helgeson missing through surgery for few months , he could be a spare for McLean ..just saying thats if helgeson re signs that is.
