16 days to go guys, just over a fortnight before our first pre season game and our first chance to see our 26/27 team. Myself I think we are looking pretty good, best dual netminding in the league, best defence in the league, a offence that could be a big problem for any team in the league and will be up there with the best, the best Coach in the league, the best ownership in the league, the best fans in the league, the best City in the league, so a lot to look forward to folks. It will be so good to be heading back home very soon, and getting those lush vibes of game night returning, just need a sell out now so if you don’t have a ticket yet, then sort it out guys as tickets won’t be available soon. So season 26/27 nearly here HAPPY HOCKEY DAYS.
I’m sticking by this except there’s now 11 days to go. HAPPY HOCKEY DAYS

I think if todd had a chance to get keefer he would jump at it, keefe is settled in belfast , family , city, kids schooling, success every season , if no trophy its usually 2nd or 3rd. If fox was in belfast with his record at Sheffield he would've been replaced after 3 years not the 7 he's been at Sheffield just 2 trophy's. .

I don’t think Kelman would take Keefer over Thommo myself, and I like Adam as a coach and certainly as a player I would have loved to have seen Keefer playing for the Devils, who wouldn’t. Adam is a first class coach but is it really that difficult to win trophies when you have the highest budget in the league, we did that ourselves many years ago do Arsenal, Man City, struggle to win silverware. Would Adam win championships with the 4th/5th highest budget in the league. We will never know, but Thommo will and has.

I would say Sheffield got the biggest budget in the lge of the arena teams followed by guildford of the non arena teams. I would put devils 6th in the highest budget bracket , due to size of vindico and with that small budget we overcame Nottingham and Sheffield in lge standings who are way in front in money coming in and we came a close 2nd to Belfast, what we achieved with a small budget last season was way over devils and my expectations, just gotta get this elusive lge title in our 40th anniversary now. Bring it on.

The thing is Boston, Giants pay nowt for their ice time so that’s roughly £15, 000 per game which is quite a number of players wages plus no payment for training ice time. They get income coming in left right and centre, they have the biggest budget bar none.

Steelers roughly 35 home games over the season at £15k per game is over half a million pounds, that’s money Giants don’t have to pay. My guess is no one comes close to Belfast money wise and that’s why they win what they win. If they fancy a player from another Elite team they usually take them offering them more. Keefe is a very good coach but I wouldn’t take him with our budget over Thommo.

Ah didnt know no ice time fees for Belfast, and obviously bigger sponsors than most clubs, and with no wage cap in force their onto a winner .

They surely are the Arena owners also own the Giiants.
Depending on arena availability the Giants also train at the only other ice rink on the whole island of Ireland Dundonald Ice bowl, thankfully for the team it s 20 minutes away from the rink but I'm sure they would have to pay the local council to train there.

It's ok having money but it's about the attitude of the players on game nights, the core returning guys, is Conway/Piccinch/ Goodwin/ Long etc would all run through brick walls for the coach because they have a competitive streak and hate to lose, Keefe can galvanise a team and in game changes to lines etc or tactics to claw back games.

The Giants travel budget will also be the highest in the league with flights/boats hotel stays etc every away game is a journey over the Irish sea.

Looking forward to the new season has any team won 3 leagues in a row in the EIHL era?

Sunday 16th August, hope there not using Vindico carpark for Park & Ride as Arsenal playing Manchester City at Principality Stadium that day.

Just looked and they are using Pentwyn and Cardiff City stadium, but there will be road closures to be wary of. Traffic should be ok as KO is 3 o'clock so anyone going to football will already be there before our faceoff

So a week to go to the first game – for a bit of harmless fun (as almost all of us will get it wrong), what’s everyone’s prediction for the starting lines for the Odense pre-season game next week, bearing in mind Helgesen says he won’t play until the end of pre-season at the earliest, and assuming all other players are fit and excluding any possible two-ways we often have joining us for pre-season camp? No doubt the line combos will change as the games progress but for the first game let’s see who is closest.

I’ll go first

D1 Estes - Oligny
D2 Welsh - Fournier
D3 Richardson - Mosey

F1 Caron – Mieho - Yaremko
F2 MacDonald – Martin - Olischefski
F3 Barrow - Kontos - Brandt
F4 Duggan/Sacratini – Davies - Harewood

Seems good to me to start with , maybe the 2nd game kontos replace Martin and Welsh replace estes, it will change in all 5 pre season games I'm sure but gotta try these lines out for the best combos
