Playoff Weekend

The EIHL will class it as a success no matter what, it will be "what a great atmosphere" and "the fans were amazing and had a great weekend" positive spins on negative attendance.

If anyone thinks ther was no atmosphere at the play offs they're wrong. It was excellent, it might have been half full but the fans made plenty of noise, second best play offs since Todd took over imo, only out done by the first play off win under the new owners , and hadn't won a final for almost 20 years

And in our final game of the season in IAW there were five Brits on the ice for us who are GB selected. There weren't even five on the bench in the superleague. I often wish folk would stop comparing the two.
That seems like a bit of an odd comparison. The quality of isl was undeniably higher, but in terms of player development we were just coming out off the Heineken league. There was no way most of the domestic talent was going to match the level of player who was coming here. That made the removal of import restrictions necessary.

The current eihl has had years of player development, and indeed players going offshore to develop, to boost its talent pool.

ISL was about the best possible product in the shortest possible time. EIHL isn't at superleague levels of play yet, but it's getting there and is more sustainable.

That's my whole point - it's an odd comparison. They aren't the same product, they merely existed in the same market. And while rosters were deeper then arguably, for every Robins then there's a Carruth or Besko now. Lindman? Fournier. Schuler? Richie. Hope? Upgrade to Hotham. Lower lines aside, the individual talent is comparable imho.
